Hi Everyone,
I am new here and am so glad i found yall. i have been looking for a skincare forum with likeminded individuals for awhile now.
My question here is about the spf in mineral makeup. i have bought some (not bare escentuals) private labeled brand and have read on line that 2 light dustings of the power offers an spf of about 20. does anyone know if sun exposure will break down the powder and would reapplication be necessary if i am not getting wet or sweating? does sunexposure break down mineral makeup?
i have been using sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection for long awhile but have only recently started reading about the science of chemical versus physical sunscreens.
Also, i am using pola 1/f tinted moisturizer cream and skinceuticals ultimate uv defense spf 30. i oscillate between the two and on my lazier days i will apply the mineral makeup.
what do you all think? |

Hi Skincareaddicted
It doesn't break down on your face - just sweats off, but I tried this last week and didn't find it adequate started tanning quite well. Mind you I'm in a tropical place. If I was in a more temperate climate I might carry on. I've read that you need at least a quarter of a teaspoon full of mineral makeup on your face to get the full SPF as stated - that's an awful lot of powder.

Thanks for the reply and the warm welcome Molly
I am in a hot area also, not tropical though just hot and dry southern california. Yeah, i try to stick to the skinceuticals and pola when i can, but boy, on those lazy days...good thing it's only about twice a month i am that lazy! i am not really outside a whole lot, i am a law school student so i spend an insane amount of time indoors in the library, but the drive to school is about half an hour or more, so i worry about sun exposure in the car |
