I finally made my dhcc yesterday. I ground the nuts till they were pretty soft, but I still think they are not quite as soft/smooth as the original. It does not hurt but I wonder if anyone has been able to grind theirs as finely as Dr H.
I might see if I can get some almond meal for the next batch. And I might also put the whole batch back in the food processor to see if I can get it a bit more fine.
Other than that I love it. |

I'm having a hard time getting the almonds as finely ground as I would like. I have only done a few at a time in my coffee grinder and STILL I feel they are too big (even after really trying to grind them up well). My lastest effort was to purchase almond paste but that wasn't as finely ground either (it's bulk processed at the store). I think I will try the jars next time.
I don't want to resort to buying almond meal because I'm trying to save money. I just don't like the rougher texture of the homemade in this instant.
Anyone have any suggestions? |

I may try and put my mixture back in the food proc. tomorrow am. Since the oils and witch hazel have been added it may help it stay together more and be able to be ground into tinier particles. I'll post here if it makes a difference |

do you have anything like a mortar & pestle to grind them down a bit further??? |

I agree with chrissie - I think a mortar and pestle is the way to go! |

dancing around I put it back in the food proc this am and just let it go to town. It is definitely finer now, and it felt just right on my skin. My mortar and pestle are pretty small, so I would have had a hard time using it.
thanks everyone! |
