Hello, I need your help! I don't know where to get help. I need to lose 6 inches on my hips in one week . I exercise everyday in the gym for at least two hours. Here is what I do everyday:
*Cross trainer (something like a skying) 1 hour
*Velo 30 minutes
*I also run (not every time) for about 20 minutes
I don't eat any bread, because I usually put weight from bread products.
I'm thinking of not eating and exercising (I know that I'm not suppose to do that), but what else I can do in one week? This is not first time that my agent asked me to lose or gain weight. I have never tried any of pills that we see commercials for every day, I don't think they will help.
I really need to lose this 6 inches, otherwise I will not be able to get modeling contract. My agent puts pressure on me to do it in one week, and I just said I will try... but I don't know if it is possible. My agent said that I'm the first choice for the client, but they need me to be thinner, if I don't do it they will sing the contract with the second choice model. I need to get this contract in order to pay my tuition at university.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Lately my work out regime have included doing cardio for half an hour and then swimming a few laps at the pool, then going to the steam room or sauna to sweat and detoxify my body. The steam room is really good for losing weight because all your doing is sweating. Remember to drink lots of water, water helps reduce fat too. Make sure not to eat too many white carbs like pasta, white bread etc. No junk food or fast food. Skim milk also helps reduce fat. |

6 inches in one week? He couldn't have told you any sooner? You need to go on a fast for the week. No exercise is going to lose 6 inches in one week. Try some callanetics exercise along with fasting. Or do the cabbage soup diet. You'll lose like crazy with that. You do know you're just going to gain it back right away though if you lose it over the course of a week. And when your body loses weight like that you'll gain it back plus some. I wouldn't even try, if he's a reputable agent you'll get other offers. |

6 inches in one week? Um...impossible.
All you can do is eat tiny amounts, absolutely no carbs, no salt, lots of water, and keep your blood sugar enough so that you have enough energy to exercise.
I think telling someone they have to lose 6 inches in one week is ridiculous. |

Laral - Since you do all of that running/aerobics, are you talking about losing fat or muscle? It sounds to me like your doing enough exercise and eating right so you really shouldn't have that much fat, if any, to lose. Some people are built larger and if that's the case then there isn't anything you can do short of starving yourself (and DON'T do that!). I think this request sounds crazy too, but I completely understand the pressure to meet the clients needs. However, I do agree with Phoebes that you will get other offers! |

Hi
Have you ever heard of the Hollywood Diet? I know the GNC stores carry it and I have seen it on TV, which means Walgreens (they sell TV products) will have it. It is a juice that you drink for 48-72 hours, something like that. That is all you drink. It it suppose to have all the nutients and vitiamns in it to keep you from falling over dead. I have not used it, but someone in my office did. She lost something like 12 pounds in a week. I doubt 6 inches is possible, but who knows. |

I lost about 6 pounds with Hollywood Diet in a week few years ago for our Company X'mas party!! And gained everything back the 2nd week. 6" in a week, I'll say it's almost impossible but it depends on how "fit" or "unfit" you are!!! If you were already a fit person or semi-fit than losing 6" in a week is impossible and unhealthy!! |

That sounds like kind of a tall order! If you exercise daily and cut down on salt you should be able to lose any extra that is due to water retention I think (one of the trainers at my gym told me that so not sure exactly how it works). But it can take a long time to lose serious inches. You might want to try one of those slimming wraps at the spa - I can't remember what they're called, but you get wrapped up in seaweed gloop and clingfilm and it's supposed to take off the inches temporarily |

I agree with PhoebesMeow - fasting is the best choice. I would drink water with lemon and honey in it for energy and cleansing. 6 inches does seem like an awful lot for ONE week, though. It's possible your hip bones are wide, so please be safe because it might not be possible to take off 6 inches. |

I agree with you, if I will lose it over a week, I will get it back even more. I had this experience before. I don't have that much fat anyways, so I will have to lose some muscles also. He is a good agent, but he doesn't care about his models at all. He knows that I need work, and he knows that I will try to lose weight. He said the same thing to the other (second choice) girl in the agency, so we now both trying to lose weight... I got this weight because he said to me two months ago that I'm too thing. This is not a first time he is doing something like this. I even asked him not to call me if my measurements are not what needed, but he did it again. |

Hello everyone, thank you for your answers .
I think that I will continue with fasting. I already went to the Gym today, and run for about 45 minutes, also cross-trainer for 45 minutes. I don't want to go to the sauna, because I never feel good in there, especially now that I'm not eating. My plan is to drink lots of water, and make that cabbage soup that many people very happy about. My hips are almost 36" (94 cm) now .
I'll see what happens... I really don't want to lose all that inches and gain them back in a few weeks .
I'm not sure if I should continue exercises, because they also increase muscles. |

Hello Lara! I'm also doing modeling and have similar type situations come up. In terms of rapid weight loss I would be uping your water, cutting down on portions and eating a mainly raw food diet for the natural digestive enzymes. Exercise especially cardio, such as running and power walking. Soups are good but make sure they are homemade and diluted. Stay away from magic pills, shakes and too much protien as your a girl and muscle can add weight sometimes. I of course do not recommend this plan for a long period of time since having muscle and protein ultimatly is beneficial. Just eat natural raw carbohydrates (enough to keep your energy up) and run, jump, swim, skip or walk often. |

How small do they want your hips anyway? If they are 36" now and they want 30" hips that is so insane. |

Wow 30 inch hips are insane. Seriously you'd have NO curves with 30 inch hips. If they want 30 inch hips tell them to hire prepubescent! I WISH I had more of an hourglass curve with larger hips because I prefer the look of the tight curving in of the hourglass, and I have 32 inch hips! That's TWO inches more than they want of you and seriously I have no curve there I look like a boy. I don't think you'd be happy with your body if you had 30 inch hips, I really don't. Plus I've been working out and getting back in shape for about 3 or 4 months now and and only lost 2 inches there. I would have preferred NOT to lose it in my hips as I have other areas I consider my "problem areas" (big fat thighs) but oh well you can't spot reduce. Anyway, I hope you feel okay this week, please take care of yourself, I know one can get quite sick feeling from fasting, so please be careful. I understand your need to at least TRY because if I were lucky enough to be in your position for this kind of thing I would TRY as well. Well keep us updated, I'm curious to know how this is all going to play out. |

Your agent is insane! You've gotten some great advise with water, fasting and all.. The Callanetics will work wonders, but in ONE week.. That's, again, insane.. And if you're working out like you say, you have muscle hon, not fat...
Please be careful and if you get to feeling sick or dizzy, for goodness sake, eat something.. If not you will end up in the hospital.. I speak from experience on this. I dealt with an eating disorder and it's NOT fun... No job is worth it.. I can't even believe this agent asked you to do this.. OK, Well, actually I can.. I've had some ask some idiotic things before...
Anyway, don't go making yourself sick over this... Good luck, let us know what happens... |

Hi,
I'm not a fan of crashing the weight off like you desire to do, but I do know something that works very very well.
It is the Atkins Fat Fast.
If you adhere to it strictly, you will get 1000 calories a day to exercise on, and you will drop fat off of your body at a rapid rate. If you go from the fat fast to the Atkins program for a week or two, and then to South Beach or Zone Diet, you will at that point be eating a healthy diet without weight gain.
Trust me -- this works.
Google 'atkins fat fast,' or try this link:

Good Luck,

Make sure you stay away from salt. Try and keep your total sodium intake to under 500 mg a day. Really look at labels, there is salt in almost everything. And drink lots of water. |

There is no way to take off that many inches. Even if you weighed 400 lbs and starved yourself, your body would find ways to compensate.
If the issue is slimming down for an interview or photoshoot or special event, I think you're best bet is to invest in 2 or 3 body wraps. You'll frequently see them advertised here.
They guarantee a significant inch loss after just one wrap, and my experience is that it is, in fact, the case that you lose significant inches. They also claim that if you go thru a full series, and I'm not sure how many wraps that entails, that the inches will stay off. I don't know whether that's true or not. But, my secretary got 3 wraps during the 10 days prior to her wedding. The effect was amazing. She lost inches and her skin looked absolutely gorgeous. I think if you pay for the wraps one at a time, the cost is something like $125 and the offer a variety of discounts if you pay for several.
In the long run, I think diet and exercise are the only things that really work, but if you need a quick fix, this makes a hell of a lot more sense than doing something that has the potential to wreak havoc on your metabolism. It isn't worth it. It won't work anyway.
I don't know where you're located, but you can check outwww.suddenlyslender.com to find a salon or spa in your neck of the woods. |

I had my hips 30" before, but I was way too thin. Some people said to me at that time that it is hard to look at me without wanting to make me eat something. At that, time my agent was happy with my size, then later he said to gain some weight, then now again to lose it...I'm getting tierd of his demands ( may it is my hunger talking now ). When my hips were 30" it looks good, because I have very small waist, so there is still a difference in size between my hips and waist. I personally like when my hips about 32" or 33".
A few months ago I met on one of the fashion shows agent from New York, she wanted to represent me and asked me to call her. I was so angry this morning with him, I called her.
I said that I have to lose those 6" inches.
She said it is not normal for agent to make moddels gain and lose weight. She asked me to sign with her agency. She also said that there is a very small market for very thin models because now tendecy is for healthy look. I would sign with her, the only problem she is in New York and I'm in Canada. Of course I can travel to US, but I can't imagine doing it for every audition...
My other concearn is that usually when people lose weight they lose it first in breast...
Anyway, I will let you know how my second fasting day will end. If I don't lose at least some today I think I will give it up, too tierd already. |

Lara1 - Well, I don't know if the NY agent is a well-respected one, but if she is and you really want a career in this, then I think you should strongly consider it. NY is the fashion capital of North America so it would be in your best interest to go for it. But if it's something you just plan to do on the side, then I'd say stick to Canada, although maybe still find a new agent.
By the way, all of this talk has me so curious to see what you look like. Do you have any pics or a site you'd be willing to share? I'm so jealous of model types since I'm far from it, but I love looking at their pics because professional pics are sooo beautiful! |

Hi Lara,
Many agents actually do tell their clients to lose weight and use threats but they don't make impossible demands - like 6" in a week! I think the clothes they use at most fashion shows are for people with 33-36" at the widest part of the hip. At most your goal should be to lose 1" in the next week, and 3" in the long-term.
Also can't you sign with both agents? I used to be with one talent agency (no high fashion stuff here... just tradeshow jobs) that did not have an exclusive contract. You should check what your contract says.
As far as fasting goes, you will feel a little better if you can take a sip of juice every once in awhile, until your body gets used to glycogen depletion and kicks into ketone mode! Hopefully that will tide you over for this week. I've exercised before while fasting and it actually helped me transition into fat burning mode... |

I've never had anyone demand less than 34" of me and I've done runway and catalog work. Not haute couture, admittedly, but still.
Also, if you drop 6", that would definitely affect not only your breasts, but also the face. Would the client still want you then? That's unpredictable.
Are you sure they want 30"? That's just crazy.
How tall are you? |

I totally agree. I am really concerned about what the fasting will do to your face, particularly the quality of your skin and the area under your eyes. Even if you can make this goal, and even if it doesn't affect your overall health, I wonder how long it will take to repair the toll taken on your face. I experimented for one week without carbs and dropped several pounds but my face looked miserable... it took several weeks before I didn't look lifeless and exhausted. |
