Hi all. I am thinking about ripping up the carpet in my living room and hall and putting down laminate flooring. I want the snap lock stuff with the underlayment already attached. I am worried though if my dogs "do their business" on the laminate, will it stain? During the day is no problem cleaning up quickly and they don't have too many accidents in the house. At night is a different story. I would not know about it until morning, so it may sit for 4-5 hours before I find out about it. Thanks to all in advance! |

We have laminate flooring and it was a godsend during the housetraining phase for our puppy. Ours doesn't stain as far as I can tell, but I do use a special enzyme cleaner to make sure that all traces of any 'accident' are removed. HTH! It is Very easy to clean, IMO, and less allergens than carpet, especially with indoor pets. |

Yeah, it's my beagle friend Olyn! Glad to hear about the laminate not staining! I agree about the allergans and smell, which is a plus for the laminate! Thanks for the help. |

Make sure you wipe up quickly - if you let pee sit, eventually, the boards will warp and start lifting at the edges. This goes for laminate and hardwood.
Try and keep it dry.
HTH! |

Well, I am wondering about during the night then, puglove. Hopefully, if I have throw rugs down the will choose to go on that instead of the laminate. Thanks for the tip! |

They probably will go for the rugs rather than the hard flooring. Mine definitely do...I'm guessing they don't like the 'splashback' ! Accidents are few and far between though, anymore. I try to take them out right before I go to sleep, and as soon as I wake up in the morning. |

Laminate is a god send for us, both the cat and dog are now getting old and coming down to pools of sick is becoming much more frequent!!
When we had carpet it was such a chore cleaning and scrubing, oh and the smell! |

Boy, I sure do know about the chore of cleaning up and the smell! I bought a steam cleaner just because of the dogs, but I am so tired of all the work and am sure hoping laminate will help with my "load"! |

I use pee pads for my dog. He seems to like it and can go either on the pee pads or outside on the grass.
The laminate does not stain, but because he sometimes misses the pee pad, some splashing or a pool of pee ends up and the edge of the pee pad and leaks onto the floor. Some of boards of our laminate floor have warped (arrrgh) and there really is nothing you can do about warped laminate other than replacing it.
You could use the rug if you like, but remember to use Nature's Miracle to clean up the rug. It gets rid of the enzymes that draw the dog back to the same spot to pee. Or I guess it doesn't really matter if you didn't like the rug in the first place!!
