I'd ordered this kit off Sephora and it finally came in this last week. I was curious about the DVD and thought it would give me some insight into the proper way to apply their mineral foundation, etc.
I've been using their concealer and foundation already, so the only new product for me to try was the setting powder and the concealer brush. I also purchased their powder brush separetely.
First of all ... watched the DVD and there wasn't anything on there that most people probably don't already know. They went over doing a face from the concealer all the way to blush and eyeshadow. They talked about using three dots around the eye area and then blending it into your skin with your ring finger. Then dipping the power brush into the powder, brushing it around the lid so you didn't have to much product on it and then she just swept it on all over the face. I'd thought you were supposed to more "press" it into your skin ... I guess I thought that's how you got better coverage ... but she just dusted it on like a regular loose powder. She said you can build up it up for more coverage. Then she dusted some of the setting powder over top.
So like I said, nothing that everyone probably doesn't really know anyway for the most part.
Now, I know I already love their concealer, and I love their mineral foundation. Although, with my very dark circles, I find that just using the mineral foundation under my eyes with the concealer doesn't give me enough coverage. So I still need to use regular liquid foundation under my eyes with the concealer over top.
The Powder Set ... this was new to me and I think I really like it! Today was my first day using it and I think it gave me a really nice finish throughout the day. I would definitely repurchase this when it runs out.
The concealer brush works well for applying the concealer to your face, but it's not to blend I don't think ... your finger needs to blend it still into your skin.
Oh, that's the other thing ... this kit includes half sizes of everything.
Now, I also had ordered their Velvet Powder Brush ... this is going back to Sephora! I used it this morning and probably 10 - 15 hairs came out in the time I used it ... I got tired of picking them off my face. Maybe I just received a bad brush, but if this is how they all are ... that's not great quality if the hairs come out so easily. I think I'll buy a small powder brush from MAC or something instead.
Anyway, I think this kit is worth the money ($57) even if they are all half sizes. It's a good way to try the products without committing the money for the full sizes. |
