When I read the description for this product I became extremely interested, especially when I read scars and discoleration. (hyperpigmentation)This is what the product reads.

Quote:
This weightless lotion is an advanced synergistic cocktail of natural brightening, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant ingredients. Helps visibly combat bruises, darkening, uneven coloration, dehydration, spider veins, brownish spots, discoloration from acne and free radical damage.

However, for over a hundred dollars, it must truly work wonders. I'm purchasing mainly for uneven skin tone from sun exposure from years back and acne scars. I would truly appreciate all the imput from ohters here whom have tried this product. Eager to hear Wink

Thanks!

have oily skin and occasional but regular 3-4 bumps that break out so I just bought a load of Peter Thomas Roth products and would like to talk to someone who is experienced in using them. Can someone review my regimine for me please? I beg of your expertise! I plan on using the beta hydroxy acne cleanser in the evening with the conditioning tonic followed by the Ultra-Lite Anti-Aging Cellular Repair and also the power k™ skin brightener for blemish spots. In the morning I will use the blue gentle buffing beads, conditioning tonic, and bare essentilials skin revver upper before apllying my make up (bare minerals). I also will use the oxygen detoxifying masque once ot twice a week. Let me know what you thinkor if I shuld return any of this stuff to the store. Do I have too much? Obviously, I spent alot of money but I was desperate for results on my breakouts and reviewed PTR abnd realy liked the reviews. How do people use the power k™ skin brightener because it seems that many people have not purchased it.

I would suspect that the brightener is so expensive because of the K - to see what I mean look at the PTR eye creams and compare the price of the power K eye cream compared to for example the oxygen one.

I should say at this stage that I have been using PTR for about 4 years. I think it's really good value, high quality products and large sizes which last a long time. At various points, it's ranged from 10-100% of my routine. Right now it's roughly 50% Organic Pharmacy/50% PTR. I basically use OP as gentle things that just do stuff like cleanse and PTR for treatment.

My ongoing 'hero' PTR product is the 10% glycolic hydrating lotion which I use as a 'night treatment/moisturiser'. It really helps keep my skin clear. I had used the very similar 10% glycolic clarifying lotion years ago but it's not enough to hydrate without a further moisturiser and I don't like layering products (I am very lazy). To get an idea for what I said about value, I get through two bottles of hydrating lotion a year i.e. every six months. My new hero product are the PTR gentle correction pads...they are amazing...talk about clean pores!!!! My routine (when I'm not faffing about trying new things):
am: OP rose cleansing gel, rose spritz, rose moisturiser
(three days a week I use PTR glycolic cleanser instead of OP, this is a brilliant non physical exfoliator)
pm: OP carrot balm, PTR gentle correction pads, PTR eye cream (oxygen in winter, K in summer), PTR hydrating lotion
one to two times a week: PTR mask (depending on how my skin is at that time)

Chellsta. First thing to say is that you should email PTR (through their website). They are really nice and happy to give personal advice (sometimes at odd hours from their Blackberries).

I would say you need something oil based to take your make up off properly before you use a wash at night, if PTR try the gentle cleansing lotion (I don't recommend the silky cleansing) although personally I am happier with a cleansing balm and PTR does not do one.

Also for you, I would also really recommend a clay/drawing mask e.g. PTR sulfur as opposed to the PTR oxygen mask, although it is not a bad idea to have different masks and use the one that fits right with your skin at the time. Another thing to look at is which toner you use, maybe the oxygen one would be good. Also my night products.

daisylondon . . . you rock. Thank you for the thorough response! You are a wealth of information. You said something interesting about Orgnaic Pharmacy products. I am not familiar with this line. So, it sounds like you do 1/2 clinical treament and the other 1/2 organic calming? Nice touch. So then, I probably should not use PTR exclusively? If I undesrtand yo correctly, you suggest alternating between lines that offer a contrast of ingredients right? Where did I hear that skin care products are more effective when you use the same and complete line of product? Well, I also have heard that your skin gets too use to the same products and needs some variation from time to time. I usually do this like one week out of the month and switch it up but I've never considered switiching between A.M and P.M or within the routine.

So, when do you need to "cleanse" vs. "treat" and also, if you don't mind me asking. . . what kind of skin do you have?

Good tip on the make up removing cleanser. I just thought that since I have oily skin, I should stay away from oil based everything?? Any more advice?

Awww thanks, I'm certainly no expert, I just love PTR and love these forums.

My whole OP/PTR thing isn't a 'strategic decision', it's just that I started using a cleansing balm to take my make up off (a whole other thread) and the latest one I'm using is OP (another thread) so I thought I would try out some other OP products. I do think the combination of gentle/clinical works quite well for me, but it can also be good to stick to one range as much as possible PTR also has some gentle products too like their senstive skin facial wash.

I do think it's really important to use something oil based to take your make up off (I am happy with cleansing balms but will try PTR gentle cleansing at some point)and certainly my facialist noticed the difference in my skin straight away (before I mentioned I'd change my routine) and lots of people on here rave about 'OCM'.

My skin is normal in texture, more so nowadays post proper make up removal (I wear foundation about three days a week). It can get dehydrated in winter. BUT it gets congested really easily if I use the wrong product hence I don't like experimenting too much. So I have to exfoliate often (glycolic stuff) and use clay/sulfur masks.

Daisy,
Based on your advice, Here is what I've come up with . . .

What I was thinking was that I would use:

AM:
Buffing beads
Condiotning Tonic
I.D. Skin Rever-Upper
I.D. Bare Minerals Make Up

PM:
Chamomille Cleansing Lotion to remove make up
The Gycolic Acid Tonic to open pores
the power k™ skin brightener for blemish spots
Ultra-Lite Anti-Aging Cellular Repair

then two times a week I will use the oxogen detox mask

I also use a mint julep clay mask

Does anyone have ideas or advice for me please.

Also, I am new to PTR so I sort of am being compulsive and feel like I need the entire line to complete my regimine

I just emailed customer services once and got the reply from there. Try it and if it doesnt work, PM me and I can send you a direct email address.
re your routine looks ok but buffing beads are not a daily face wash but an exfoliator so you may want to only use them a few times a week and use something like sensitive skin wash every day as a cleanser.

the chamomile cleanser sounds like a fantastic idea. it's really good, i have never bought it but had it used on in me in a facial.

You don't need to get loads of products, just start with a simple routine and then add more products if you feel the need.
For example in the winter when it is really dark all the time here, I sometimes use my hydrating lotion as a morning 'moisturiser' as well as a night time treatment (can't do it in the summer due to the glycolics). I love it is the way it is water based so doesnt block my pores, in fact cleans them out.

Hey Daisy,

Again, thanks for oyur advice!

I emailed the customer service at CS1@Peterthomasroth.com They have not yet responded. If you have another email, let me know.

About the winter/summer . . . I live in Southern California so the weather change does not affect my skin all that much. . .I am slightly less ioly in the winter. Is the gycolic not good in the sun??

Re buffing beads . . . the back of product says it is gentle enough to use daily but I hear that people are agaist this. Is it not a good idea? What are the conseuqences? I actually love the buffing beads the most . . .they are soooo cool! I guess, if you suggest, I will take my use of them down a bit.

Should I have two toners? Gycolic and Salicylic? Using Gycolic at night and salicylic in the morning?

I am purchasing the chamomille today. Let me know what you think about the toners.

I'm currently using PTR chamomille cleanser to take off make up and told me not to use the gycolic with anything salicylic because this could be the sourse of a breakout. That actually made alot of sense. I just don't undertand why certain products use thes 2 acids together if they are recipe for breakout. Any thoughts on this? I know they nuetralize one another but my facilaist said they do more than that . . . cause a break out.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that for now, my regimine is complete and my skin feels so much softer and healthier since I've been using PTR. Also, my favorite PTR product? The Power K skin brightener! I mena, the stuff brightened my skin in just three days! I can't believe it. My skin sort of glows now without any make up on at all. It is amazing! My skin has not looked like this in 10 years, since when I was but a teen.

My spots have not began to fade yet but from the overall brightening affect the product has on my skin, its sort of less noticable. I think that given time, the power K will probably knock my spots out too.

I got a sample of Camu Power C x 30™ Vitamin C Brightening Serum from EDS.
I searched ingredients first, it looked so so.
When I use it, I smell the fruit taste.
Awwww. I do not think I will buy it in the future
