Hi Everyone. I am curious as to how long you lurked on this forum before you posted? For me it was about a year and still i find i lurk alot and read rather than post. For me I feel I dont have enough knowledge or expertise to offer and dont want to reply in fear of sounding stupid. Anyone else feel this way? |

Hi,
Yes, I kind of feel like you do, but I did not wait that long to post. I really do like this board, and haved learned so much.
I feel that if I reply, I wont be taken seriously.
Everyone seems very nice though, and willing to answer any questions.
I'm glad you started this topic, because I'm sure there are many more like us. |

Hello, kez, I posted immediately when I discoved this site.
DON'T take it serious and just feel free to post. Most of our forum members are so gentle and sweet and are willing to share their knowledge of beauty each other. We got so many experts and nice people here all around the world.
One thing I hate to see is that I found swearing words here occassionally which I feel uncomfortable. We are all sophisticated ladies and I absolutely feel bad when I see somebody attacking any members who said something wrong or had different ideas.
I do hope some other members agree with me of the above. |

For me it was probably a few weeks. I'd really been looking for somewhere to join and be able to discuss skincare and makeup. I'd found this site looking for an online seller of Dermalogica. I "lurked" a while before feeling comfortable to post. It's been a really great experience and now I find myself addicted to these boards. |

I think it was probably a few months. I was overwhelmed at first by the knowledge, the number of posts, and, frankly the BUDGET of so many contributors.
I was a semi-starving student who thought spending $50 on a product was a huge deal. (I still kind of do, especially since there are so many amazing DIY products!!!) Browsing though what EDS sells was eye-opening... so many products I had never heard of, and some of the price tags were (and are) seriously intimidating.
However, none of my friends are as product obsessed as I am, and they all have very different skin/hair types, so I've been turning to EDS more and more.
I can see being hesitant to post, but of all the boards I've ever read, this is the nicest, most civil, most helpful board. It's something to be cherished. Thanks to everyone who posts, and hello to everyone who lurks! Come join us... |

I think I lurked for a few weeks before posting. I also thought, that if I'd get some sort of discount out of it, then its alll gooood.
**Of course this isn't to say that I don't enjoy the conversation/discussions on here because I do. Its good to ask questions and get different opinions on products etc. |

I didn't lurk at all. I found the website, discovered the forum, read a couple of topics and then I started posting. |

Wow, Yen, you joined in March and already have 600+ posts. You really hit the bases running!
I lurked for 3 1/2 years. Not sure why because I posted on other boards.
Tularyn, I am also amazed at the budget some people seem to have and the number of makeup/skincare lines they are familiar with! |

I also lurked on and off for about a year before deciding to post. It is a wonderful forum with nice and knowledgeable people. I just wish I could buy EVERYTHING that is recommended! |

I lurked for about 6 months before I finally joined the forum - even then I didn't post all that much initially, it took me a while to work up to that! I tend to post only occasionaly when there's a topic I know a little about, and for the rest of the time I enjoy reading everyone else's experiences . |

I lurked for over a year and even after joining this is only my 2nd post. I too am in awe of the vast knowledge of the most of the posters. I may test the waters soon. I've been using Lift Fusion for a couple of weeks now and have been trying to find an intelligent way to share my results so far.
Thanks for starting this thread. I feel better knowing there are other lurkers. |

I lurked for over a year.. but I didn't read the boards like I do now, I probably only read them once or twice a month if that. But for well over a year. I had tried the aspirin mask about a year ago as well as ocm. I think I was searching for eyelash stuff when I originally found the board. And it was the Hyaluronic Acid for lip plumping that got me to stay and read that WHOLE thread. |

I didn't lurk for very long- only a day or so perhaps. Everyone here just seems so very nice and sharing, not like some other boards that I've joined, so I couldn't resist jumping in. I'm so glad a friend directed me to EDS when we talked about skincare, because I've learned so much here in just a few weeks! |

I lurked for a couple of months before I placed my first order. It's after my second order (about 2 weeks after the 1st order ) that I registered and started posting. |

I think I lurked close to 6 months. My overall experience leading up to it was very similar to what PhoebesMeow described (Finding the aspirin mask and ocm a while back...then after searching for something unrelated I started realizing what a great resource this site is). At first I would read things here or there, and then when something really caught my eye (for me it was the DIY thread) I would read until my eyes got blurry. Needless to say I'm hooked. I would say the reason I lurked so long before posting is mostly because I don't post at boards online, until now.
I am just so grateful for everyone's honesty and kindness here. I feel like everyone here seems so nice and just wants to share their knowledge and experiences and help others feel better about themselves...through finding the right products/routine, or just having some support! Finding my own routine/good experience with certain products are probably what actually lead me to start posting. I just didn't want anyone to miss out, like I was! |

For me it was a year of lurking before I joined and almost another year of lurking before my first post .... I felt (and still feel) that I simply don't know enough and haven't tried enough products. I can't believe how much I have learned from this site, though, and think it is tremendous how kind and helpful everyone is to each other. |

Don't worry, people don't always respond to my posts either. I usually just browse to see what topics interest me and post any questions that I may have and just wait. Be patient. |

A couple of days.
I was just so happy to find others who are using and reviewing health food store type products.
For those concerned about costs - please keep reading and experimenting with the DIY threads. One time I was looking at a Forbes slideshow list about the most expensive skin creams. It mentioned a Valmont cream which cost over $400 and said the cream contained "sea buckthorn" and and "rosa mosqueta." As a longtime user of healthfood store brands, I know that with a little discounting, one can easily get those two ingredients for under $25. |

I posted right away. I think this site is so very informative about skin care and procedures, I really like it. Also it is very easy to navigate and find things. |

I was led here by the Lucia eyelash craze. I read about it for a week or so and then jumped in. |
