I have some scarring on my back/chest from acne of days past... what's weird is that the scars are little distinct circles of smooth, hard, white (a lot lighter than the rest of my skin, and a different texture, too). To be honest I prefer the red/brown spots because at least those fade... these white things look like they're here for the long haul!
Has anyone else experienced these, and if so, any advice on improving the appearance of them? I'd just like them to fade into the rest of my skin more... |

I call these my "pepperoni's" cause they look like those little white specks in it. I have a few here and there on my arms and don't know where the came from. I think it's just lack of pigmentation/sun damage which is actually different than a true scar, but I've never been able to get rid of them.
I also have a white scar circle about my lip where I had some precancerous skin cells frozen off a few years ago. I've used about every exfoliant out there, sunscreen, treatments, etc. and there has been no change at all. I'm hoping the Rhytec Plasma Portrait procedure will fix it if I ever get the nerve to have it done. |

I have loads of white scars, have had them for years. It almost looks like my skin has lost it's pigment there. I'm not sure if there is anything topical that would make them disappear. Maybe using fake tan may help them look less noticable. |

I have them all over my chest, arms, and back...to the point where I am self-conscious about it. It truly sucks, and, like you guys, I don't see there being a cure. |

I wonder if you could use a q-tip and some self tanner on those spots. I have one on my chest, I may try it tonight. |

I get those too...mainly on my legs though. They aren't that big. |

So, really, no one here has any solid advice on improving the appearance of these things? I seriously have so many, all over my chest and back, and it's causing some problems. They seem to have gotten worse within the last year for me.
I'd love some additional guidance if anyone has any. I HATE these things... |

Have you tried that palmer's stuff, or merderma? I don't know if they're for older scars, though. I have a white scar on my forehead that I've had pretty much all my life (bitten by a cocker spaniel at 1!) My mom told me when I was 18 I could have plastic surgery to remove it. But I don't even really see it anymore, it's sort of a part of my face since I had it pretty much since I started looking in a mirror.
I would suggest seeing a dermatologist if they bother you that much. I don't think a topical will get rid of them. |

I have those white spots/scars on my chest and shoulders too, probably from acne in that area when I was younger, and yes I did squeeze them which is probably what caused the scars. I didnt really have any pimples on my face so I guess I'm lucky there at least
I asked a dermatologist a few years back if there was a laser that would remove the white spots but she said no. So unless there's some new laser or other treatment, I guess I'm stuck with them?? |

That is a real shame.
I think mine are due from picking, yeah, but also from getting sun while I had zits. The sun would cover the majority of my chest but NOT the zit mark, and by the time the zit disappeared, it would be a white mark.
I always figured there was something I could do to help with them. I've been trying Mederma and glycolic acid. So far nothing really helps. The texture feels somewhat better, but ... that's it. |

I've been using AHA body lotions too for a long time, 12% and 20%, but hasn't made any noticeable difference for me either. |
