So I've jumped on the HA bandwagon (60mg/day) for about 2 weeks, and sure as ____, it works. I would guess that my top lip is about 20% plumper. My concern is that I'm seeing naso-labial lines for the first time ever, and they are definitely deeper in the morning. Could this have anything to do with the added "strain" or "pressure" (I can't think of a better word) caused by a larger upper lip... like I've altered the balance of my face or something? It just seems too much of a coincidence to suddenly start seeing these lines when I didn't have even a trace of them before. I'm stopping the HA caps for now to see if there's a connection and just in case I'm risking permanent damage....
I was perfectly happy with my lips and I wonder if this was God's way of saying don't take supplements on a lark.
Anyone have any thoughts to share? |

Hello LandB
I think you're absolutely right about upsetting the balance of your face.
When I tried some extra strong face exercises from Flexeffect I'd sometimes feel my face was turning a bit freaky, because if you plump up something that was never plumped up in the first place it pushes other things out.
I've kept this thought to myself until now. So glad it's out thought it was a bit obsessive.
It often makes me think of a comedy sketch from 'not the 9 O'Clock News" (hundreds of years ago - I think you're British, aren't you?), where a bald man had a really long piece of hair which he 'combed over', but it kept misplacing itself and appearing out of other orifices.

Molly, I'm not British but love British comedy and had a nearly clinical * spam alert * to Red Dwarf for about a year until weaning myself off... Then there was my Ab Fab * spam alert * which almost required intervention...
But seriously, thanks for making me feel less crazy. I was teetering on whether to post my observation. |

When I first started taking the HA supplements, they helped plump up my lips and I really liked the effect. At times I almost felt like my teeth were "tripping over my lips". Then over time, the HA simply stopped working. Either my body was plumping up other places (my stomach maybe? ) or my body just stopped utilizing the ingredients. Who knows?!
But I do know that my naso-labio lines are more or less noticible at different times, maybe depending on what skin care products I'm using or how much water I'm drinking (even though I drink a LOT of water EVERY DAY). At one point, I thought I was getting rid of them, but then they reappeared. Tricky little suckers . . . |
