I just read another post below titled "skin ligthening". One thing mentioned "Basically it can switch off melanin production permanently in some cases and create whiter patches on the face".
I moved this to a new post because I think this is what happened to me after using Obagi. I had no reaction with anything, no lightening of freckles, etc. but after I was on obagi for 6-8 weeks I noticed these "white patches" between my freckles on my left cheek.
Does anyone have any information on this and what can be done now to even my skin tone? Thanks in advance. |

Hypopigmentation is extremely hard to correct. A special laser is used to stimulate the melanin production and does not always work. Unfortunately, melasma is often accompanied by these "white" spots but what is really happening is that the skin around the "white spots" is just darker. Once the melasma is gone, I could not see the white spots at all.
When my sister had this problem (melasma with the white spots), she had a beta peel done and it removed all the dead skin/dark/light stuff and left her with even-toned skin. |

thanks betterat40. I was thinking of trying a lactic acid peel, or even a combo of lactic and glycolic. Hopefully that will help me! |

Hi
I was just posting over here in the Skin Lightening thread about the news, to me at least, and I don't know if it's true that Arbutin and Bearberry convert to hydroquinone in the skin

If you're interested. Thought you might not see it here. |

Thanks Molly. Yes, I had heard that before, which is supposed to be why they work! |
