Hi all,
A few months ago I skipped into Sephora buoyed by the raves of friends who wear MMU. The Sephora lady tried to sell me a kit but I just wanted her to do a strip test -- to see if MMU looked natural for my skin tone.
I have a zillion tones going on--eyelids are reddish, cheeks more yellowish, etc. so wearing foundation has never really been an option unless I want to cover my entire face to get it to *one* color. Thankfully, I've never really had to go this route, and have relied on a tinted moisturizer when necessary.
But now I feel as though I need to tkae the journey, post a mental allergic breakout, my skin is quite marked on my chin, around my mouth and slightly upwards along my nasio-labal area. It doesn't make this girl feel all that confident (especially as I am interviewing these days).
Ladies (and Gents) please weigh in |

Have you tried going to a spa where they sell MMU? Perhaps they can custom blend you a color? I think a green concealor for the reddishness around your eyes would work... |

Hi prs ,
I am a medium golden brown which yellow/peachy undertones so I know what you're looking for.
I just found my exact skintone match from bareFaced minerals in the velvet plush formulation http://www.barefacedminerals.com/Velvet-Plush-is-Here-c-291.html
I use the G7 - G=golden. I thought I was a Y8/9 but these were actually too dark and orange. I took my time and tried the foundation over a 4 day period and checked and rechecked in daylight (bright + unforgiving) as well as in artificial lighting.
It is essential that you sample and try it over a long period so you can see how your skin interacts with the foundation and see the changes in different lighting before choosing your perfect match.
One of the great things about bareFaced minerals is that she does custom mixing so she can tweek the foundation for you.
PM me if you need more help + application tips. Welcome to the wonderful world of minerals |

I love mineral make up, I'm a recent convert
I know what you mean too...I'm medium golden with peachy undertones...but rosy cheeks etc. I've found that a lot of mineral makeup sites let you buy samples really cheaply, which might help.
I found my perfect shade of foundation at lilylolo.co.uk (I'm not sure they ship outside the UK, but email them to ask. The lady who owns it is very friendly) Also, bombshellbath.com , pureluxecosmetics.com and everyday minerals also do samples, all three are American companies, so that might be more useful for you.
I tried about 8 different samples before finding the right shade, but its worth it! |
