Hi!
When I apply H2O plus eye cream,I get a burning sensation every time, and although I heard that it means the cream's active ingredient is working, it still doesn't seem normal to me, any ideas whether it's OK if it burns?
I'm also wondering, that eye cream never really absorbed into the skin, it just kind of caked inside the wrinkle/fine line, could that be an indication that the cream is no good?
thanks! |

Products with AHAs or Vitamin C may burn but I would really describe the sensation more as a stinging. If a product causes a burning sensation as opposed to a stinging sensation, I figure that there is something in it that my skin doesn't like and will not use it. Sometimes when my skin is really irritated products that I can normally tolerate will "burn" my skin.
Was your skin irritated when you put the cream on? What are the active ingredients in the cream that might be causing the burning sensation? |

I don't think a burning sensation on the skin is ever ok, except maybe in the case of Retin-A products. I know that some people can experience a little burning in the beginning. Stinging from AHA's, BHA's etc. is normal and usually subsides over time with continued use as your skin adjusts to it. I would be very cautious about putting something on my skin that actually burns!
I agree with TheresaL. Your skin may be trying to tell you that the the product isn't right for you. If it doesn't feel "normal" to you, then it probably isn't! |

Thanks!
The cream has vit C in it;
but another cream which has vit E also causes that sensation;
I'm not sure whether it burns or stings, but I would be more inclined to describe it as burning... |

Is the C in the eye cream ascorbic acid or another form? Ascorbic acid could cause some stinging (not burning) but the other forms should not. It is sounding to me like a bad reaction to something in the products. Do you use any other H20 prodcuts? If so how do you react to those? |

yes, their Vit C is definitely Ascorbic Acid,
but I also tried Body Shop's Vit E cream, and it produces the same sensation, and that one doesn't have ascorbic acid. However it has rose hips oil, which apparently is a source of Vit C...!
I've tried a moisturizing gel from H2O, and that one felt fine...basically, I don't know, I'm 25, I have fine lines, and I think my skin is very dry (about 6 months ago, I tried a cream which turned out to have something with alcohol in it, and I don' t think my eye contour recovered from that one!)
Maybe I'm getting this reaction because now my skin is very dry and sensitive... |

Sounds to me like your eye area is pretty sensitive. You may want to look for an eye cream that is specifically for sensitive skin. Caudalie's Eye Coontour Cream is very nice.

I agree with Lori. It sounds like your eye area has become way too sensitive. Try using something very gentle and basic for a few weeks to help de-sensitize the eye area skin. Once you get your skin in better shape maybe some of the eye creams you couldn't tolerate now will work for you. You never know though, it could just be something you are sensitive to and it will bother you even when you skin is in better shape. I notice that cleansers can really make the skin around my eyes very sensitive and irritated, you may want to make sure that your cleanser is not overdrying and/or irritating your eye area. |
