Hi Everyone,
I am quite new to skin care and was looking for some advice from some people in the know!! I know that sounds strange but i really am just a cleanse and moisturise high street brands like of girl. Anyway I recently decided I need to start looking after my skin but don't know where to start! Can anyone help??
He are my stats.
29, skin in fairly good condition but a little dehydrated, light to medium skintone, don't sunbathe (any more). Combo skin, open pores on nose and cheeks, about 4 brown spots (one large one) that have come up in the last year just on one part of my cheek and under eye area (from the sun I think??) I break out about once a month (time of the month), and starting to worry about ageing although not real signs yet.
If anyone with similar skin could give me a few pointers. It would be really apprieciated. I would like to keep it fairly simple as I am always in a rush!!
At the moment I am using Eve Lom cleanser - Olay touch SPF 15 moisturiser in the morning and Nivea Q10 night cream.
Please help, I am just so confused with all the products !! |

I the Eve Lom Cleanser works for you I would stick with it.
A Toner would help close up the pores, plain Witch Hazel is good enough
Maybe look at using a Vitamin C serum for the brown spots, you can either buy a branded one or make up your own (see DIY thread).
As for moisturiser I am sure there will be many other members who can give you great recomendations |

I would add the vitamin C serum as rosebud recommended.
There are a lot of great moisturizers for your skintype.
A few to look into are
-Decleor Aroma Purete Matt Finish (if you want something really light for humid/summer months)
-Phytomer Instant Moisture for normal/combination skin for cooler months or when you need heavier moisture.
-Thalgo Bio-Protective Cream if your skin needs more moisture and is Very sensitive.
Other brands that are popular on this board are Dr. Hauschka (have their masks but not moisturizers - YET), Dermalogica (I had no success with this one - too irritating)
For the vitamin C there's Vivier, Obagi and CellularSkin RX...all sold on EDS. |

Hi
I agree with the Vit C - give yourself anti-oxidant protection now (C's particularly good at protecting against the sun) and you'll prevent aging. It also gives you a lovely glow from day one and even/translucent skintone further along the line.
I'd add some kind of gentle exfoliant some nights. Something salicyclic might be good for your pores. It scours them out and once they're cleaner they seem smaller. I'd recommend Exfol serum (2%),(http://www.dianayvonne.com/category/16/) it's cheap and effective but there are plenty of others and here on EDS if you'd prefer. Or a mild glycolic product (8-10%) for a smoother surface and a moisturising effect. Or both!
You should also be thinking about sun protection on a regular basis, especially in the summer. It's tricky to recommend a product in this category because most of us are still hunting for that holy of holies.
