I've had accupuncture and found it extremely helpful for what I was trying to achieve (overcoming * spam alert *; accupuncture is well-known to help alleviate cravings and withdrawal symptoms).
I'm not sure what you mean by tring it on your face. It's not like you go to an accupuncturist and ask to have treatment on a specific body area. I'm just a lay person with no training, but here's my experience: What 'should' happen is you go and tell the accupuncturist what your symptoms are and what your objective is. Then the accupuncturist evaluates your physical condition overall by examing you physically and through questions. When the treatment begins, the needles are placed in various spots all over the body 'along energy pathways' according to what is being treated.
Durng my treatment (from what I can remember; it's been a long time), I had needle placement in the forehead between my eyes (third eye), on top of the head, ear lobes, wrists, hands, ankles, feet, tummy, etc.
I cannot imagine how accupuncture could be responsible for a burning sensation. I barely felt the needles when they were being put in. While they were in I didn't feel them most of the time (once in awhile I experienced slight tingling). And there was no sensation after they were removed.
I also have been diagnosed with rosacea that I've been treating for about 8 years, and I wouldn't characterize rosacea symptoms as burning. With rosacea, what happens is facial flushing and redness, broken capillaries as a result of the repeated flushing, and acne-like blemishes. When the flushing is happening, the face feels hot, but not 'bad burning.'
Whenever I've had what I would call bad burning, it's been the result of a sensitivity reaction or allergic reaction. For example, I tried retinol for a few days before going to bed. The first day, my skin was irritated. The second day, my face was burning, but like an idiot I did it again hoping that my skin would just adjust. The third day, it had very 'bad burning' with other symptoms of irritation and it lasted for two weeks even though I ceased using the retinol.
Good luck.

Hey thanks for your reply, im glad it worked for what you went there for, I myself have been disgnosed with Rosecea and i get flushing badly and i also get this with burning pain, i do not have any p/ps that you can get with this problem however there are different stages of this.
Have you found anything that has helped your Roscea in any way?, I did go for Ipl treatments but has made the burning sensations in my face worse where now i dont have to be flushing to have it, The reason why i asked if anyone had been treated on their face as the burning pain is just in face alothough they may need to put needles on other places as where as the face. Did you find the acpuntcure you had aggratve your rosecea or did it help in any way?
Thanks Sarah |

My treatment of rosacea veers from the subject of accupuncture, so I'll answer you about that in a new thread entitled "Rosacea" in case others are interested as well. As rosacea relates to accupuncture, no I did not see any difference (improvement or aggravation) with my rosacea when I was getting accupuncture. But since I wasn't getting accupuncture for that, I wouldn't expect to see a reaction.

I had acupunture on my face for a couple of things but one of them was hayfever, and whoever said AP is painless is a liar! Ok so it's not pain I got but more of a dull ache in certain areas round my body where they put the needles but not on the face. |

I tried acupunture 4 times on my face for my wrinkles (on my forehead and crow feet) and it didn't work for me. I am 35 and maybe for someone who is older it will work - some people told me that they have great results. I love acupunture and it does help me with my low back and neck pain. I have sometimes a little bit of pain when the needle is inserted, but the pain goes away very quickly. |
