Have you tried Hyaluronic Acid? It is wonderful for hydrating and soothing. Use it topically and take it as a supplement. It might not work overnight.....but with continued use, you may not even get these dry spot anymore.

Jayni--Hi, you can also try spot treating it with apple cider vinegar mixed with water. u can get it at the grocery store but make sure you get the real kind and not the cheaper artificial flavored one.

Also, if your skin is sensitive, which it sounds like, you should consider sensitive skincare brands like arouge (excellent brand without parabens, and pretty much all natural recommended by Juju) or la roche posay (i haven't personally used this, but lots of ladies here love the stuff). arouge gives out free samples http://www.zenyaku-usa.com/Zenyaku_Sample.asp here.

Your skin sounds really sensitive. What kind of skin care are you using? Any specific ingreients that your skin reacts the most?

Maybe try to put some Cetaphil lotion (not the one with SPF) on your face before you go to sleep? This is really oily, actually, but a little bit will give you a big difference in your skin's softness overnight. It will feel almost like weird water (lol) when you put it on, honestly you don't need much at all. Go very sparingly. It will give your face a shine, though, so I don't recommend using this in the morning.

It also sounds to me like your skin is having a bad reaction to something. Sad What are you currently using?

Maybe something like Emu Oil would be good. I wouldn't use anything to harsh on your face at the moment considering your skin sounds so sensitive. When i'm run down my skin can become so sensitive that even if I cry the tears stain my face, feel like acid almost! I know it's expensive but Creme De La Mer is really soothing and takes away the redness for me when my skin is like this. I just keep a sample size jar of this for emergencies.

Hydrocortisone will help with redness and irritation, neosporin will heal any painful cracking. Maybe visit a dermotologist if it is causing you that much heartbreak. Try not to feel too bad about it, everyone has skin problems. Good luck.

Hi Jayni,

Good luck. My one comment would be that I think the Clinique toner is extremely harsh, and their moisturizer is very thick (probably to try to counteract the stripping effect of the toner). I think that the toner may be a bit much for your skin - especially given the reactions you are describing. If you can afford to do so, I would try switching toner and moisturizer if I were you. Personally, I find the Dr. Hauschka range is fantastic, it works without attacking your skin the way that I find Clinique does. If you go through the forum, you will find that many people have a favourite line of skin care - perhaps look at the postings from other people with sensitive acne-prone skin.

If you do start changing things, I would suggest doing it slowly, don't add a million more products to your skin care routine at once, you may react to something and you will never know what it is.

As a spot treatment for acne, you could try tea tree oil.

Jayni - please stop using Clinique - it really is one of the most drying lines on the market. I have oily skin, and this stuff even dried out my face! I would suggest you get into a sensitive skin line possibly organic, something that is healing instead of damaging.
There are lots of sensitive skin members who I'm sure would have some great suggestions for you. Good Luck! Very Happy

You seem to be using a rather strange combination of products for someone who is the daughter of a dermatologist...

For one thing, I'd suggest you try to calm down. It isn't worth freaking out over AND there's an abundance of scientific evidence that shows that stressing out invariably shows up on your skin first !!!

Yes, please do 2 things.

#1 - RELAX. Your boyfriend and his family should like you for YOU. Gosh, we all have skin problems from time to time. It doesn't change who we are. Smile

#2 - STOP using Clinique ASAP!!! You need something gentle and formulated for sensitive skin. The less ingredients the better. Less to react too.

Good luck! I am sure your boyfriend's family will see beyond the little skin problems you are having.

Perhaps it is a medical condition and you should see a doctor. Could be a skin infection. You may need anti-biotics.

Anyway, it definitely sounds too serious for us novices here on a skin forum to handle. Please seek professional help....both medical and perhaps emotional as it seems these skin problems have affected your overall health.

Are you kidding me!? Board certified Dermatologists are Doctors which leads me to believe that your Mother is not certified and therefore you should be going to a proper Dr. anyway!

I second to STOP USING clinque! That stuff is horrible. I had some of the same issues, new boy and I was so very depressed. It seemed like the days I did not see him, my skin was ok, but then the days I was going to see him, I would wake up with big ol blemishes. It sucked. I went to the derm who put me on Tazoraz and Benzeclin during the day. He said to stop using the BP's and SA's in my cleanser and which to cetaphil. I have been doing this for two weeks now, first week a little dry, a few flakes of skin here and there. I just started making sure I did not use to much of the RX's. I also use a cloth in the shower with my cetaphil. Second week, no problems. Only a couple clogged pores (not red) and no more Big ol blemishes. Give it a shot. It changed me in a matter of days. I feel good about myself again. I have not felt this way in 6-8 years. NO LIE!

That was my first intial thought also, but you were the first to say it.

For the trouble girl, if this isn't some joke, can you explain to us in bit more detail because I certainly for one am confused. Is it like a rash? A pimple? Discoloration? I have no clue what you're really talking about because you're not giving us much detail.

Not to be rude, but reading your posts is making me cross-eyed, would appreciate if you spell some of the words out rather than try to use acronyms and use numbers for the letters and such.
