I finally found a MMU I truly like. Everyday MMU. BUT all of my lines seem much more noticeable. I really buffed it in very very well. I need to put some kind of spackle in my lines, or matify my face before I put on the MMU? Any suggestions are welcome, because I do like the look on my skin, but do not like the lines screaming out. Thank you.

One of the gals I know is a makeup artist...she said that all MMU tends to emphasize pores and wrinkles.

I still wear MMU...but she said it definately can happen.

I forgot this in my last post...
I don't know what brand you use, but say for instance you use BE, you could try the "sandwich method" which I do when it's really humid out:

Mineral Veil

Foundation

Mineral Veil

(so you put a layer of MV first).

this might help, but I don't know.

I use BE, and it will crease if I put too much on. I find the tinsiest bit does the trick.

It's my Everyday MMU sample kit. I read on the site it says if your lines seem to be more evident, mix a little bit of a lighter shade in with your shade, cuz it says if your shade is too dark, it will accent lines. I will also try using a little bit less, although I do think I went light. Maybe more practice will help. Thank you.

A primer like the one from Smashbox may help. Another is a product called Monistat Chaffing Gel found in US drugstores. It's not available in Canada. I have yet to try either (I do have the Smashbox primer) but hear there is success with other people. Here is a link to the discussion about Monistat.

I ordered a free sample of Monistat last week, still waiting for it. Have tried Smashbox primer and thought it was just okay. Thank you for the suggestions! Shall let you know how the monistat works.

Yep, I had read that thread. I've tried MMU a few times in the past couple years. I have top notch brushes, a great collection of them. Everday MMU really seems to provide nice coverage. I think I'll just hope the Monistat will help, and I will also apply less tomorrow, to see if that helps. I sure appreciate your input, thanks again.

Have you tried a light misting of water after applying? I find it gives a more natural, less cakey look.
I find mineral makeup hard to work with, makes the flakies more noticeable.

Cedar, I 've been using mmu for about 4mo. now and absolutely love it. I'm an older gal and I don't think it emphasizes lines or pores more, at least on me. Use a very light hand, swirl your brush into the bowl you've sprinkled your foundation into and tap once or twice to remove the excess then apply to your face. mmu co also make primers that go with their brand as well as finishing powders. It's better to apply 2 light layers than 1 heavy one. I tried everyday minerals but didn't like the foundation, fyi I understand this brand is most like BE in the formula and feel on your skin. There are lots of different sm. mmu co. out there with lots of great products, most offer samples for very little cost. HTH.

cedar,

the point about the lighter shade is true - this is what I experienced. you made need to try it in a lighter shade as long as you are sure you have found the perfect tone.

Another tip to try is to mix a tiny pinch of the mmu with your moisturizer or aloe vera gel(the purest you can find) and apply this to your face either with fingers or a foundation brush. Do one section of your face at a time with aloe vera gel as it dries quickly and can be harder to blend if you do the whole face at once.

One other thing I realized is that you need what seems like an impossibly small amount of mmu and too much can also emphasize everything on your face.

I do this and it definately works for me. I sometimes use rosewater if my skin is feeling a bit sensitive or dry.
