I use Vitamin C in various forms, but also require Benzoyl Peroxide every morning and evening.
I normally apply the vitamin C, than the Benzoyl Peroxide.
Does the BP erode the effectiveness of the Vit. C? |

I have also been very curious about this too! I hate to wear vit c in the morning becuz the one i have makes me oily. But i use BP at night and was afraid that these two would not work effectively.
So I too am curious about this answer! Can someone answer please =) |

When I was looking into using C serums I was specifically told by skinterra and the skincare institute that Vitamin C and benzoyl peroxide should not be applied at the same time. I think part of this is that they both can be irritating but I think that the benzoyl peroxide may erode the effectiveness of the Vitamin C. The only reason I can come up with for this (and I may not be completly right here) is that BP is alkaline and Vitamin C serums need to have a low pH to be fully effective. I stopped using BP before I started using C serums but if you want to use both then do not apply them at the same time.
belledivine67 if you really need to use the BP twice a day you may need to apply your Vitamin C then wait a while (the longer the better) to apply your BP. Just curious, why do you need to use the BP twice a day? Have you tried using it just once a day and not had good resutls?
Emilee_ann_143 you can use the BP in the morning if you prefer. I used BP for years and always applied it in the morning. IMO it is best to use C in the morning but it is fine to use it at night. |

I am using BP twice a day as per advice from acne.com. I am 39 years old and have had acne prone skin since graduating from high school. About 4 months ago, my skin took a drastic turn for the worse. I experienced cystic acne, especially along my jaw line and chin. I tried every recommended remedy (prescription and otherwise) to no avail. Finally I discovered acne.com. I purchased Dan's 2.5% acne gel and followed his advise. My skin has never been better. Unfortunately, however, I have some discolorations due to previous acne bouts. I therefore am attempting to integrate Vitamin C into my current regimine....which brought me to this question.
I suspected that both ingredients should not be used together, but was unsure.
Thanks for the advice....if I find out anything else, I will post. |
