I'm almost out of my AM cleanser (the one I use prior to my Jurlique face wash cream) and am in need of a new one. I know there are many EDSers who are particularly fond of cleansers and trying new cleansers so hopefully I'd get some good recs here. I haven't personally tried a lot of cleansers because they take a while to use up and I REFRAIN myself from buying more than one at a time.
Although I'm not too fond of cleansing milks I think it's the perfect time to use it now as my super light cleansing mousse leaves my skin feeling tight in combination with my Jurlique. And as I am not too fond of milks leaving a film on my skin I need a super gentle RINSE-OFF one.
I've been doing some reading on EDS - people here seem to like Caudalie (while MUAers find it stings on some ppl).
PSF's Green Tea Cleanser seems nice
Not sure abt Dr.H's Cleansing Milk
JB also has a cleansing milk
I probably won't opt for Jurlique since it's sort of pricy.
Please help me pick one (doesn't necessarily have to be on the list). Any HGs out there?
Apart from this I also wanted to ask for your opinions. The Jurlique is GREAT at decongesting and I LOVE using it but it's not enough daily exfoliation for my acneic skin - I find I still get flakes that hasn't gone away (it's not due to dryness either). So I'm not sure if I should opt for Dermalogica's Microfoliant or PSF's Peach Scrub for PM use (not everyday though, maybe every other day). I use my JB apple peel once a week or so (I don't want to use it too often as I am going to be starting on Actives once my Active Serum order gets here).
TIA! |

I wish I had your willpower! Could you send me some? I'm a bit low...
I'm one of the fans of the Caudalie cleanser - it is very light, probably the lightest of the ones you mentioned in your post. I have found that it stung my eyes a few times but that doesn't usually happen (I'm not sure why). I am about a third way through this and at this stage I would definitely repurchase. The PSF green tea cleanser is wonderful as well. A thicker texture than Caudalie but not too rich. It leaves skin feeling very comfortable and somehow calmer (in my experience). I find that both remove makeup well. My next choice from your list would probably be the Jurlique followed by Dr Hauschka.
One other creamy cleanser that I should mention is the Cellcosmet one - it is of course more $$$ but also wonderful at removing makeup and leaves skin feeling soft and comfortable.
Btw, I know that you're after a cream/lotion but have you tried something like YonKa Gel Nettoyant? It's a liquidy sort of gel but I didn't have any issues with dryness when I used it. |

The Dr H cleansing milk is pretty good, I don't find it leaves an oily residue on my skin. However I prefer foaming cleansers in the morning, I used to use the Jurlique foaming cleanser but it was starting to dry out my skin, at the moment I'm trialling one by Aesop which is quite good & non-drying. But have you tried Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel?, I didn't find this too over drying on my combination skin. I haven't really tried any of the JB cleansers, apart from the exfoliating one which is pretty good, but I'm not quite sure what the rest are like?
Imo, the Daily Microfoliant is a great, gentle daily exfoliator so I definitely recommend that one...try & get a sample if you can. I'm not sure about the PSF though, I haven't used it yet.

Wow! Fast replies, THANKS!
Mabsy: Yonka gel is my purchase list for another PM cleanser (after I finish my current gel cleanser - YES THE WILL POWER!!!). I only use gel cleansers when I put on makeup as I found most gel cleansers leave my skin tight normally. But you're right this doesn't leave my skin tight as I have used my sample on bare skin (btw I even refrain from using the sample so I can use up my current cleanser more quickly! ). It is JUST RIGHT but would probably leave my skin a bit on the dry side after I finish off with Jurlique's wash cream
Safire: Jurlique's Foaming Cleanser is also on my to-buy list as a friend of mine is going to Aus in Sept so I asked her to pick it up for me. Dermalogica's Special Cleansing gel leaves my skin tight even after a full day of makeup. It goes EXTREMELY well with Precleanse (left my pores smaller) but still, left my cheeks a bit tight. But I do love smell but gel or foaming claensers just don't work for me in the AM on bare skin.
It's quite odd how my skin reacts to cleansers as my skin is combo-oily. It can be an oil slick but still get dried out by cleansers (and cleansers alone as my skin is pretty resilient to everything else!) |
