Help!
Yes, I used pore strips a couple of months ago. I recently got eyeglasses and realized that I had a crop of blackheads right on my nose, and in my pre-EDS hysteria, I ran out and bought them and used them as gingerly as possible. The blackheads have not since returned, but there are veritable holes on my nose now that I figured would fade in time. It has been some time now and I'm beginning to worry. Does ANYTHING reduce their size once they've been blown open like that? I've been using Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel on my nose at night--it hasn't seemed to make much of a difference.

I hear the pore strips cause damaged to your pores. and make them clog more. I also heard that leaving your pores clogged (blackheads etc) damage your pore and it never recovers |

Have you used a strong clay mask like the Queen Helene Mint Julep on your t-zone?
I can have pretty large pores and I've found the following to help: really thorough cleansing and toning. Decleor Ylang-Ylang oil during the day with a non-clogging foundation + powder (mineral). A good clay mask 2-3 times a week on my t-zone, more in the summer. 2-3 times a week using Juice Beauty mask with copper peptide serum at night. |

doesn't seem to me that biore strips damage skin so much--i have been using them for years when my nose pores were huge, and now they are normal sized, thank goodness. but i do think leaving the nose clogged does make the pores bigger.
to make the pores appear smaller, i think you would have to do some sort of glycolic or AHA (are they the same?) acid product. my mother's skin was badly damaged from sun exposure a few years back and she did the obagi peel thing (i forget the exact name, but it might be the blue peel) and her pores became smaller as a result. i wouldn't recommend the obagi peel for just the nose pore problem though, cause i am sure they just appear larger to you because it's your face. i always think my pores are big but people think i have baby butt skin. i think the JB peel you have ought to do the work with time. |

I've been using a nose peel I bought from Sally Beauty Supply-- Beyond Belief Clean Pore Nose Peel. It's an AHA/ BHA (lactic, salicylic) peel with tea tree oil. I find it reduced the size of my pores and made my nose less oily. It's also very inexpensive-- $5! |

Thanks violetanne! I'm about to go there to pick up some Savage Bronze to try and will grab one of these as well. |

From what I've read, aren't size of pores genetic so therefore you can't really alter the size of them? |

ariesxtreme,
I have been poreless my entire life and the blackheads were smaller than tiny pinpoints, but when I used the pore strips, they just opened up and became larger! If pore size is genetic, then I'm hoping they will return back to normal in time, but it's kind of unsightly compared to the rest of my complexion...
I will perhaps get the regular strength JB apple peel and see how it works...

Avalange-
Okay, think I understand what you're saying. That may be the case and might want to deter from the pore strips anytime soon.
Think I might try the peel that someone mentioned above from Sally's Beauty Supply and see how that works. If anyone else has other suggestions please feel free to share, especially products and or recipes that don't hurt the budget.

I think that the pore strips are just a short term fix, well I've found that personally. Whenever I've used them, my nose feels cleaner and blackheads less prominant, but it only lasts for such a short time. By the next morning they seem to be back to their original state.
I've stopped using them and have been trying a BHA product instead, it's working slowly but it's not an instant fix it takes time to see the results. |
