I'm in Oz, so not currently enjoying Summer like some of you lucky ones.
I normally have oily skin, thanks to OCM, it's gone. Now my skin is dry and my lips are sore at times (as they do get during winter for lots of people).
Now what do I do to remedy this? Money is tight. I was hoping for an oil that would help. I've used Emu, but not continously, I guess I could get some more and do that?
I've started slamming down over 2litres of water a day and it's making no difference to the dryness. My skin does feel a bit plumper, so it's doing something, but not helping with the dry top layer.
I'm keeping up the exfoliation, maybe 3 times a week. (Should I cut it down?).
I'd really like a natural alternative that I can buy at the shop NOW if possible.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I forgot, I've been using Rosehip Oil, I think it's making my skin a little sensitive to the sun though.
I'm using the Neutrogena cleanser/mask. I think it's done wonders for my pores, but I think that may be the culprit of the drying.
Any suggestions for non-drying cleanser. Maybe I should just use EVOO or Grapeseed with a tiny bit of Castor. I know the castor can be drying. Maybe just the plain oil?

Hi starkers
I would suggest what you yourself just said...start by cutting out the castor oil in your OCM. And if you think the neutrogena is part of your drying problem, cut your use down to 1 to 2 times a week instead. Do you use a moisturizer or only oil as moisture after cleansing? I would get a light moisturizing cream, such as PSF Day Perfecting Lotion http://www.essentialdayspa.com/psf-perfecting-day-lotion-p_4955.htm or Decleors Harmonie Cream http://www.essentialdayspa.com/decleor-harmonie-essentie-p_1202.htm
Both these moisturizers are for dry / sensitive skin. I've got them both and use them both.
My experience with oil as sole moisturizer is that it is not enough in itself, and if you slather more on it just makes you oily, not moisturized.
HTH and good luck! |
