Hi. I recently discovered this forum and have been trying to take in the huge wealth of information it offers. So far, I've discovered some products which sound good to me (not that I know much!), but I'm still a bit lost.
For reference, I'm a 23 year old man. I have combination/oily T-zone skin, with a bit of acne around my chin and neck. I've been using some of the Bioelements line for the past 3-4 monthes. I currently use their cleanser, astringent, and volcanic mud soap daily, while I use the pumice peel once a week. I've noticed a definate difference between these products and my old routine of simply a drug store face wash, but I'm starting to become more interested in taking care of my skin and looking to delve a little deeper.
If anyone could recommend a good routine and products to start off with, it would be much appreciated. Thanks! I hope to be around for a while. |

Hi. Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry I can't be of much help to you. I have the same problem with oily skin and I still can't figure out my routine. I have tried lots of different things for combatting that and so far I like the decleor ylang ylang oil or dr. hauchkas normalizing oil. I am quite positive the ladies on here will be of more help. |

For acne, I would recommend Serious Skin Care Continuously Clear line. I have oily/acne-prone skin and this line is the only line that has ever helped with my acne. You can get it atwww.tsc.ca (if you're in Canada) orwww.seriousskincare.com &www.hsn.com (if you're in the US).
If you have any acne scarring, I highly recommend the Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel. Using the Serious Skin Care also helps with the scarring but the Green Apple Peel speeds up the process a lot more. |

Thanks for the advice. Juicy Beauty Green Apple Peel is something that has definately stuck out from what I've read so far. Would you recommend the entire Serious Skin Care Continuously Clear line, or are there some products you'd rather substitute with others? |

Patrick, I definitely recommend the Continuously Clear line. It's a three piece system. It comes with the Daily Ritual Cleanser (a gentle scrub), Moisturizer and either the Clearz-it (active ingredient being benzoyl peroxide) or the Clarifying Treatment (active ingredient being salicylic acid). I find that benzoyl peroxide (Clearz-it) makes me break out more so I prefer using the Clarifying Treatment.
My current routine is the Daily Ritual Cleanser, Moisturizer and the Dry Lo (overnight spot treatment). They're working really well for me. Start off with the three piece that I mentioned above. |

Welcome to the forum patrck! I quite like the sound of your current routine although if you are still having problems with acne then I would suggest adding the Dermalogica Medicated Clearing Gel or simply Dermalogica Microfoliant (which is fab! ).
So when you say that you want to delve a little deeper - are there certain parts of your routine that you are wanting to change? Are you after something to add to it (the first thing that springs to mind is DEFINITELY a vitamin C serum) or simply bored with Bioelements and want to try something new? |

I think if you have oily skin you might want to try Decleor Ylang Ylang Oil. Decleor also has a skincare line for men, maybe you can check that out. My skin is not much more balanced since YY and I don't really get oily during the day anymore (I'll probably blot after 6-7 hours vs before where I'd have to blot arounde 3-4 hours). |

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone! I would like to add some things to my routine, and possibly replace some or all of the Bioelements products. Their cleanser seems to work well, but I'm still iffy about the other products. I'm also curious in knowing if I could benefit from a different night routine than the one I use in the morning.
Some of the products you've all mentioned are ones that have stuck out to me as definate winners from searching and reading other posts. These include the Ylang Ylang Oil, JB Green Apple Peel, and Dermalogica Microfoliant. Could you recommend a Vitamin C serum? And tell me how the previously mentioned products would fit into my current routine? Thanks for all the help and advice! I'm learning a lot. |

I'm currently using Cellex-C High Potency Serum as my vitamin C serum. It's very potent so you only need to use it once a day. I use it everyday in the morning before any of my moisturizers. Make sure you wear a good sunscreen during the day. |

As far as vitamin C serums go, they generally fall into one of two texture groups: watery and something that feels a little bit more substantial. For my normal skin I tend to prefer serums that are in-between, like Vivier or PSF. The Cellex-C High Potency serum is very good and it's on the "watery" end of the scale which perhaps you might prefer for combo skin.
I have (and like) the Bioelements Decongestant Cleanser and would suggest you leave this in place. You can follow that up with Dermalogica Microfoliant each morning and then apply a vitamin C serum (only once a day). This should be followed by moisturiser (if you need it) and sunblock.
In the evening I would suggest that you use the Ylang Ylang balm (or oil for use in the morning) - followed by a moisturiser if required though I doubt you will need to moisturise afterwards. If you are happy with the pumice peel (I've read really good reviews of this but have not yet tried it) then continue to use that as you have been. Once it runs out then change to JB Green Apple Peel if you would like something new and use this twice a week.
I think it might be a good idea for you to incorporate these products in stages. For example, I can use the Microfoliant daily without drying out my skin but others have reported otherwise. If you find the Microfoliant slightly drying then I would go for a more substantial vit C serum instead of a watery one, which would dry out the skin further. Hence - it's a good idea to incorporate each product into your routine step by step and see how your skin responds before deciding on the next product to add. |

I can't comment on the other products that have been mentioned, but I have combination skin and I have been using Decleor for men products, coupled with Decleor cleansers and toners (my favourites are the foaming cleanser and tonifying lotion), for a few years. These products have been excellent.
A small amount of Aromessence Balm (for Men) at night works wonders. You might also want to consider the Aromessence for Men oil as an alternative to Ylang Ylang. |

My only recommendation is biotherm.... especially the line for sensitive skin. sometime when you have pimples on the face, you should treat your skin as sensitive type. Anyway, for young skin which needs moisturizing, biotherm is a good choice. |

Has anyone used MD Formulations for men. I'm thinking about getting it for my boyfriend. He has oily blemish prone skin and I'm trying to get him on a good skincare regime. Thanks |
