I'm wanting to buy some SLS free shampoos, body washes, etc.
Have ordered some online but is there ANYWHERE in HK that carries this kind of thing, maybe like a small health food shop hidden away in some arcade in Mong Kok? I'm on HK island but am prepared to travel obviously
I know Mannings in IFC carries Burts Bees and that GNC chain also carries a limited range of Burts Bees and John Masters. Any other sources for other SLS free brands, or the full John Masters line, would be greatly appreciated.
I know there are some other HK members out there |

Wow, I would also like to know as I'm moving back next year. Or I can just get someone to bring some back for me because we don't get any John Masters over here at ALL!!!
btw appletini - how are the prices of those comparative to the suggested retails? I know that Burt's Bees are much more expensive in HK than in the US (it's also more expensive here in Canada than the US). |

I usually buy my SLS-free shampoo from Aubrey Organics. You can get them at the basement floor of Time Square (near Citysuper) Causeway Bay at a pretty reasonable price~ I think they also carry John Master line which is also SLS-free. hth~ |

Thank you all for your help!
I was actually looking to find Aubrey Organics but didn't dare hope. Thanks, sundae, for the tip. Will get on over to Causeway Bay later in the week to check out Citysuper.
Also, like the sound of the HABA but not sure it is available locally
sormuimui - I guessed you might be a Cantonese speaker from your screen name
Burts Bees is also expensive here compared to US. From memory, I bought the Grapefruit & Sugar Beet shampoo and conditioner for a total of HK340 (US43.60) and the lip shimmers are HK70 (US9.30). I see on the Drugstore.com website the shampoos/conditioners are only US8 and shimmers US3.69 !!!!
(hope my currency conversions are accurate) |

Wow, I didn't know BB was that much more expensive. I think it should be cheaper here in Van although I haven't seen them specifically. The Avocado Hair Treatment sells for approx 15-16CAD, so I'm assuming the poos and conds will be cheaper as well.
Please update when you've checked out JMO in Times Square - whether they have the full line and the pricing. Times Square is a pretty convenient location if I'm asking my aunt to get it for me. |

Thanks, gel.
I had confused HABA with ABBA.
Now I know the line you mean, HABA, it's one of those Japanese brands, right? I think I've seen it around.
I'll definitely check those out as it's probably not as overpriced as those like Burts Bees imported from the states ??? |

Yes, Burt's Bee is waaaaaaayy overpriced here in Hong Kong. such a shame as I heard a lot of good reviews about its orange facial cleanser but couldn't bear to dish out $180 knowing that it should only cost about US$10-13.. |

There is a great health food shop called Health Gate on Des Voux road which carries selected products from jason's, dessert essence etc, weleda, carol priest etc.
City super in times square also has nature's gate(both organic and the other line), it has jon masters, aubrey organic, kiss my face(i know irrelevant), some aveeno and ofcourse loads of japanese products(dont know what they are, hardly any english on them)

You could try the Giovanni shampoos and conditioners in all the SaSas. They are just under HKD 65 (and that's without the 5% discount card). I've had good results. |

Really? I didn't know SaSa stocked the Giovanni line? The price definitely sounds good.
Thanks everyone for all your help.
Am going on a hair product buying spree as soon as I can get away from my desk. May have to wait till next week, sigh...
I really want to get to Citysuper to check out their range. Then there's SaSa across the road for the Giovanni. Might even try Joyce Beauty in Times Square, though I doubt they will have any $65 shampoos
Then off to Central to Health Gate. Will be a fun afternoon. |
