Hi!!
I have posted a couple of things over on the forum 'over there' but don't think I will get a reply they seem to be too busy self destructing!
I have recently bought DY 25% Vit C serum, Alpha Arbutin and Kojic and Wildberry - to try and fade the blasted freckles I have had since I was about 3( grr to melanocortin 1 gene that causes them the red hair and only coming out at night in the summer type vampire tendancies !!) I appreciate I may be fighting a losing battle but worth a try!!
I do use a Mexoryl SPF 50 too. My question is how long do I use the products before I see any effect (I know this is a how long is a piece of string question!LOL!) But how long do you continue before giving up (again I appreciate it may take a long time...).
Grateful if anyone can shed any light! Sorry for the ramble...
Many Thanks |

Hi there--I'm from "over there."
If you're measuring by lightening effect of your pigmentation areas, then you should give it six months. And you must be religious with using a high PPD sunscreen or else the arbutin + wildberry serum won't be effective. As for the vitamin C serum, you should notice a nice 'glow' to your skin within a couple of weeks. Vit. C is also supposed to help with lightening, but it's probably the same thing...six months. Both the 25% vit. C and the kojic acid (in Wildberry serum) are quite acidic, so I hope you don't have sensitive skin.
Hope I have answered your questions... |

Hi PocoLoco!
Sad to see whats happening 'over there'! So thanks for the reply!
Thanks for the info' - I've been using a vit C serum for ages (PSF 20% but found the glycerine formula a bit sticky in the hot weather) so not expecting too much of a change there....
Will give the other serums a good 6mths then - as for the sunscreen I am neurotic about applying it so no worries there.
Thanks again
Hope the skincareboard settles down soon... |

For me, my C serum helped fade away darkness/spots in about 12 weeks. (Cellular Skin Rx - 12%). I also use Retin-A at night which I think helps hasten the lightening along quite a bit. I think AHA peels/masks once a week will help, too, but you MUST be ever so vigilant about sunscreen use when using AHA's regularly. |
