I want to share this experience as I'm baffled by it. Let me start with some brief background. As you can see from my info I've only been on EDS for a month and so far I've received all of my 3 orders. I have COMPLETELY changed my skin routine except for a gel cleanser I'm using up before I purchase a new one.
My Skincare routine for the past 3 weeks:
AM:
Clarins Brightening Cleansing Mousse
Jurlique Face Wash Cream
Clarins Toner for combo skin
Decleor YY Oil
PSF O2
Lancome Sensation Totale
Juvenil + Creme 15
PM:
Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse
Clarins Gel Cleanser
Clarins Toner
Decleor YY Oil
PSF O2
Claring Brightening Serum
Juvenil (sometimes)
Decleor YY Balm (or Essential)
I always do a spot overnight treatment with MB's Drying mask
This past week I bought Valmont's Purifying Mask, Dermalogica's Microfoliant, Earth Science Clarifying Herbal Toner and just Friday my orders of Phyto Corrective and ISC Active Serum have arrived.
So now my routine for the past 3 days has become this:
AM:
Dermalogica Microfoliant (with either the Clarins cleansing mousse beforehand or my sample of Issima foaming creme)
Clarins Toner
YY Oil
O2
Phyto Corrective
Valmont dermotosic serum sample on inflammated spots
Juvenil + 15
Clarins UV PLUS Spf 40
PM: (with makeup Precleanse + gel cleanser instead)
Jurlique Face Wash Cream (cleanse beforehand same as AM)
Earth Science Toner
ISC Active
Phyto Corrective
O2 (sometimes I forget the O2)
Juvenil (sometimes)
Decleor balm (sometimes)
spot treat with purifying pack leave on overnight
Treatments I've been using for the past 3 weeks have not changed:
PSF Acne Mud Mask
Jurlique Moor Purifying Mask
JB Apple Peel
now added Purifying Pack
I used these according to how my skin feels
Now that you know what I use I can tell you my story:
Right when I started all new products from my EDS Orders I started purging (due to the face wash cream and due to juvenil as I used it all over). Then after a week or so my skin started clearing up a bit. Then without changing my regime it started getting bad again - REALLY bad. I was also getting near my time of the month (about a week away) but it seriously got SUPER bad. I also noticed after using the new products my whiteheads increased which may also be the cause of the new breakouts. So I decided this is due to NOT enough exfoliation. The Face Wash Cream wasn't enough daily exfoliation for me compared to my old regime with the Proactiv Cleanser. So I decided I need a good daily exfoliant - thus Dermalogica.
Now I can't emphasize ENOUGH how bad my skin has gotten. Up until today it has gotten worse on a DAILY-BASIS!!! My acne is now rising up as red bumps or white bumps that turn into red bumps (they're clogged pores with seeds in them which I can't really extract YET). I also have gotten quite a few Cysts - extremely red. Basically BOTH my cheeks are filled with red spots that make me looks like I suffer badly from rosacea which I don't. I hate looking in the mirror. My chin has also sprouted bumps of whiteheads apart from my normal seeds that can never be completely extracted because there are TOO MANY and they come back with a vengence the next day. I have no idea why this has happened, I don't see a problem with my regime - my skin has even become more normal-combination and not even oily anymore!
So these three days since my NEW routine with my NEW products I haven't seen too much improvement. It hasn't gotten worse though. But today - it's around my 3rd day of using everything - something amazing happened. Even this morning I looked like crap. So in the afternoon at my bf's house before we went out I took off all my makeup with my handy purse Clarins Water Purify Cleanser and reapplied my makeup. I do this everytime I'm at my bf's house. After I cleanse I use my sample of Creme PG which is also always kept in my bag. This routine is nothing new - I've been doing this for the past month since I got my PG sample. So I go on to put my usual make up and slap on a WHOLE LOTTA concealer to cover how horrible I still looked in the afternoon.
Now I get home late, around 6-7 hours after my makeup reapplication. I take off all my makeup and I look in the mirror. WHOA  60% of my red spots/marks on BOTH cheeks were GONE No idea what suddenly happened. I applied my JB Apple Peel as treatment tonight because I haven't used it in a week since I've been slapping on a lot of PSF Acne Mask as Treatments. I continued my usual regime and then came back surfing around the net and EDS. After a while I started to touch my chin (yeh bad habit I know, but it's hard to stop) and I felt lots of seeds sticking out. So I decided to go back to the washroom and take a look. The whiteheads on my chin - the seed that NEVER disappears even with my old Proactiv Regime came out without much effort. Just a simple LIGHT squeeze and out it goes. I have also realized these few days they've decreased in amount. And tonight they ALL came out. Apart from some white bumps still left on my chine it's SMOOTH MY CHIN IS NEVER SMOOTH!!!
I really hope it's not getting better just to get worse later on *cross my fingers*  . How I pray to have good skin and to have a day where I never wear makeup.
Anyways, you all must be bored (if you even read all of this long post  ) I just wanted to share what happened to me. I still don't really know what caused this - the Active? the Microfoliant? the Peel? my Phyto Corrective? Purifying Pack? I have no clue.
And since I cleansed my face in the afternoon and only applied PG why did my skin suddenly improve in just 6-7 hours? I'm completely baffled  But of course in a good way  |

| It is possible you are using way too many things on your skin. Skin needs to breathe and if you use too much on it, you are probably creating more problems. I would cut way back - using just a cleanser and one or two others you find you must have and after a week or two of that, add in one more thing and so on. It is the only way to know what is causing the breakouts. Let us know if you continue to clear now of course if you don't stop your routine with all the things you use. Just too much at one time is all. Good luck! Been there .... |

You are using a lot of products - and it seems they are new products that you'd never tried before.
I think it would be far better to simplify your regime, then try adding one new product at a time to see whether your skin copes with them.
Hopefully, someone else on the forum with experience of your skin type (mine's very different to yours) might be able to come up with something for you. |

I just wanted to say that I'm so happy that your skin has cleared! I hope mine does that one day too ... I'm still dealing with clogged pores and blemishes on my chin. Hopefully this is a routine that you can stick with (although maybe you can take others suggestion and cut back on some of the products, just so it's not too much for your skin ... you never know). I always worry about over doing it too ... so I'm starting to alternate days instead of using everything the same day.
Congrats though on your skin clearing! I hope you've found your HG routine! |

it's true I'm using a lot of of products but then again - I don't think they can harm my skin. I've tried lots in the past and everything I try to use I actually NEED. Basically in the routine I before receiving ISC the only stuff I added were the Yonka, Decleor and O2. Both of the serums (Lancome and Clarins) are actually my repurchases from before which I am no longer using as ISC is probably more effective now that I know about it from EDS. Decleor oil and balms have actually changed my skin in a good way quickly in the sense I don't even think I have oily skin anymore. That has never happened with any other products. O2 doesnt' count as complicating my routine because - well it's just oxygen and it would be safe to say it's HELPING my skin breathe So I guess the only things I could do without is the Creme 15 but I use that to mix my Juvenil so that I don't slather too much Juvenil (because I would tend to in an attempt to get rid of my acne). It's also great to keep my skin more hydrated.
However you guys are right and I think the only problem was my PM regime. I shouldn't use the Decleor balms too often and now I will either only use it as a massage treatment after cleansing or if I use it as a leave-on then I'll make sure to leave some days in between uses. I think I was too anxious seeing how little I use of the balms and having bought both the YY and the Essential I thought I would NEVER be able to use them up and would have to throw them out when they expire in 2 years. The ISC serums are also lighter than my old serums so that may have an effect too. But I don't think I can do away any part of my regime as I need a product for lightening, acne and oil control.
I don't think I started on my new products all at once. I started Juvenil a week before getting my EDS order. I have also been using the Clarins' oil prior to the Decleor oil so that wasn't very new to my face either. I also used DHCC a week prior to getting the Jurlique face oil so I guess I introduced each 2 new products at a time.
When I worked with a simpler routine with Proactiv my skin could only be kept at bay. When I switched to doc's prescription acne topical my skin wreaked havoc and got red and peeled pretty badly. My skin also always got oily pretty quickly around 3-4 hrs after washing. Now with the additional products it takes 6-7+ hrs.
littlebo: seeds are those whiteheads that when extracted the stuff are very seed-like. Sort of like little pieces of rice.
Thanks for all your comments! I totally understand why my routine would seem like a lot of products. But then my skin is so resilient - I can't even feel a tingle using the ISC! An SA suggested I might be drying my skin out - the lower layers but I don't know how I would be able to really know that since I'm not secreting more oils - my skin just feels balanced right now. |

| I can easily say that my skin gets so much better when I am not using very many products. For a couple of months I was away at my mom's house and I only used a Neutrogena cleanser in the morning and night. I didnt even use a any moisturizer!! I did use a sunblock SPF 15 during the day which I guess had some moisturizing stuff in it. Anyway needless to say in those months, my skin cleared up so well. When I got home my husband was shocked at how good my skin looked! |

Once I didnt use anything for one month. NOTHING. Just washed my face using a washcloth and cold water twice a day....Didnt even use sunblock but i was outdoors only for say 25-30 min a day....and surprisingly I cleared up very well.....Now that doesnt mean that i am giving up my lotions and potions anytime soon  |

It sounds like something in your routine is working because you have purged so many of the hard-to-get-rid of whiteheads. If your skin is starting to clear up, then you must be on the right track!
It's encouraging to hear your story because I struggle with acne/scarring too and it is sooooo frustrating! A key action for me was to STOP using so many of my potions and to stop cleansing my skin three times a day with a harsher cleanser. It has helped tremendously!! Also, I now just apply a layer of rosehip oil before bedtime in place of all my other stuff I used to do. It's so much easier now and my skin is so much happier.
A goal of mine is to be able to go without coverup and foundation on a regular basis so I know how you feel!! I hate applying the coverup! I am getting closer and closer to my goal thanks to this wonderful forum! My acne is definitely under control now .... IF I could just keep my hands OFF my face!  |

wow that sounds great! congrats on ur skin clearing and i hope that it keeps getting better!
is it really that bad using a lot of products? just wondering. my own routine is quite simple too and its getting better.. mostly from decleor i think.. my skin is normal/combo now instead or oily/combo! decleor is great!
anyone have any good tips for extracting those ricey seed things? besides using the tool.. cause i suck at using the tool... |
