Gentle cleanser--check.
Skin remodeler--check.
Good moisturizer--check.
But what service do peels/masks offer to your skin? Wouldn't they just irritate and dry out your skin unnecessarily? Are the effects good in the short term, but bad in the long term?
Just wondering because I was thinking of adding a mask/peel into my routine! Any recs?
My routine:
26/M/DRY SKIN/CLOGGED PORES
AM:
-Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream
(wait 15-20min.)
-Red Tea Serum
-DCX under eyes.
=====================================
I ALTERNATE NIGHTS BETWEEN THE FOLLOWING:
PM #1:
-Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream
(wait 15-20min.)
-Vivant Mandelic Acid 15% (amazing for clogged pores/blackheads!)
(wait 30min.)
-Ultra Emu Oil/HA
-DCX under eyes.
-------------------------------------
PM #2:
-Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream
(wait 15-20min.)
-Avene Diacnéal (retinol/glycolic acid)
(wait 30min.)
-Ultra Emu Oil/HA
-DCX under eyes.
-------------------------------------
PM #3:
-Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream
(wait 15-20min.)
-Skin Biology's CP Serum (Copper Peptides)
(wait 10min.)
-Ultra Emu Oil/HA
-DCX under eyes. |

OK, I'm thinking an enzyme mask might do good for me. Any recs?
So far, I have these in mind:
Zia Fresh Papaya Enzyme Mask
Zia Pumpkin Mask
June Jacobs Perfect Pumpkin Peeling Enzyme Masque
Anything with papaya, pineapple or pumpkin.
I cannot use salicylic acid though, so the PSF pumpkin is a no-go! |

tbh, I would have thought with the mandelic and the 2-3x a week retinoid, you'd be getting enough exfoliation.
If you did want more, then youcould use one of the glycolic or fruit acid washes that dianayvonne does maybe?
Also you could use the CPs every night before your emu/ha and in the morning as well unless you have just started on them. I would also apply dcx first or at least after the vivant.
You say you have dry skin but you don't use a daytime moisturiser?

Yeah, my skin doesn't feel like it needs anything else. I just feel like I'm missing out on something with masks/peels! Psychologically, I want to use them, but do I need them?
Also, the Red Tea Serum is my daytime moisturizer. It gives me just enough moisture. My skin is fine in the mornings from all the EMU/HA. I'm not terribly dry in the summer I suppose... |

Well if you just want a mask for psychological reasons, then basic mud masks are nice, or perhaps a moisturising one? My fave mask apart from psf pumpkin, is dead sea algae mask.
It's fun as well because sometimes you can peel it off in one go and then when it dries you have this really spooky face thing |

your routine sounds great! i would still suggest natural masks though! such as strawberry, lemon, tomato, papaya, etc. They have many natural acids and oils that are amazing for your skin. I dont like to reply only on chemical store bought items :P |

I don't think you really need a mask or peel. Also, keep in mind that if you shave (and I'm assuming you do), the act of manual shaving itself is a form of exfoliation. It is one of the reasons why guys often exhibit less aging of their skin even when they DON'T use any skincare products.
I do understand that you feel like you're missing out. But, if that's the case, there are alot of masks out there that are rejuvenating/energizing masks whose primary action isn't exfoliation. Why not try one of those rather than overtreat.... |
