sorry this may be a dumb question but how do you wash your face with just water?
i am interested in doing this now because of the results i have been reading about in threads about simplifying skincare routine.
i want to do this in the morning.. but i put on oils at night and i can still feel it in the morning.. even after i splash my face 20 times with water...
do you still use toner and moisturizer after too? |

Before I started using Vitamin C serum, I used to wash my face with only water in the morning. I just splashed it 20 or 30 times and then dried. I did apply moisturizer and sunscreen afterwards but I do not use toner. I think if you apply moisturizers or products with a lot of silicones at night then you will have a hard time getting the product off your face with just water. I am not a big fan of silicones so this was never an issue for me. I use a cream cleanser in the morning but often consider switching back to just plain water. |

I sometimes just use water in the morning. It depends on what I've used the night before, but if they're all good things and they've absorbed I can't see the point of using cleanser. But I do scrub/massage my face with water - not just splash. It feels effective to me and I can't abide residues of any kind.
I remember reading Guapagirl uses water with, I think she said, a dermabrasion cloth AM. Maybe that would be more effective. |

Yes, washing cloth!!! I use a very soft washing cloth I bought from a local skin care boutique. I've been washing my face with water only in the morning for about a week and my face is not as dry as before. If I did not put on make up during day time I wash my face with water only too at PM. |

In the winter when my skin tends to get dry, I usually wash my face with just water in the morning. When it's warmer, though, I use a cleanser am & pm. |

I only use water to cleanse my skin - when i am late for work or if i have a hangover from a party
Mind you saying that - i did was my face for over a week with just water this year and my skin did look quite good - in that it did not react!
Regards
Karina
ps i would use a face cloth and then splash my face about 20 times |

I use OCM in the evening.
In the morning water + a soft mouslin cloth only. First i take the cloth soaked with hot water 1-2 times and finally with cold water to close the pores, etc.
I rarely use moisturizer for the night, some rosehip oil sometimes so i have no major oily feeling in the morning. |

Yep, Molly's right, I use an OLD MD cloth with water. If I have tons of slap on, I use OCM.
It's simple, quick and cheap (more money for pricier skincare and voddy ) |

You don't have to use just water all your life .... you can incorporate a cleanser when you really want a good thorough clean............

I use to do this too, but I find that using alternate hot and cold water is actually bad for the skin. You should always wash skin (including shower) with warm water. Extreme temperatures actually hurt the skin. |

I wish I can just use water. But i find when i wake up, there is already a build up of oil in my T zone, so I use a gentle cleanser to prevent clogged pores |

Penguin, i always close with cold water, oherwise i had open pores and widened veins, which i'd better avoid...
and i love this fresh feeling (see OCM) |

When I wash with water only I use a linen cloth to gently exfoliate. (I've tried other fabrics, but the have never felt anything as smooth and soft as fine weave linen.) |
