I've been using the Diva cup for about 5 or 6 months now and have been relatively happy with it except for a couple of issues.
Unfortunately, I realised this week that I accidently threw mine out a few weeks ago when I cleaned my bathroom. (really dumb mistake)
So, before I buy a new one I was thinking about my options and wondering if a mooncup would be better or just the same. I notice that the mooncup is slightly larger than the diva but my biggest concern is the flexibility of the cup. The diva is not very pliable (not easy to fold in half) and I seem to have a difficult time getting it to pop open once inside.
They look pretty much identical and say they are made of the same materials but I'm still curious about this.
Can anyone with a mooncup share their thoughts on this one? Thanks for your help. |

Hi Cloe,
So sorry that you threw out your Diva Cup! I oftentimes think about buying a backup Mooncup because at this point I don't think I could live without it.
I haven't ever tried the Diva Cup, so it's difficult to make a comparison. I can fold my Mooncup in half easily to insert it, but it definitely wants to maintain it's shape...meaning I have to make sure to hold it tightly or it can feel like it's spring loaded! I'd definitely suggest the Mooncup, but am not really certain if it's really that different. Maybe someone else will have some more helpful advice for you.
Good luck with whichever one you end up with! |

Hi marmur1,
Thanks so much for responding. This is exactly what I wanted to know. That's a great description (spring loaded) . So I guess they are pretty much the same.
I don't mean to get too personal but do you ever have a hard time getting it to open up completely once inside? And if so, do you have a technique that helps? |

Hi Cloe,
No problem! I don't often have problems with it opening, but I remember reading a tip from one of the forum topics when I first tried the Mooncup that suggested gently twisting the cup from the base to encourage it to open. This seems to have helped me when I've had this problem, but I don't have a ton of experience with it. Hope that helps! |

Thank you marmur1- I guess I just need to continue using it to really get the hang of it. |

Pardon me for butting in, but you did bring it up...
I've been using the Diva cup for two years. (Great invention!!) It will open fully if you spin it 180 degrees after inserting. I don't have the instructions anymore but I remember them saying that you should always give it a twist to avoid leaks. |

Hi alohagirl,
I don't know what's wrong with me but I have the most Difficult time trying to turn the darn thing once inside. It's soooooo frustrating. I end up pinching and hurting myself every time. And still have to fight with it for a while to get it to open. |
