Hi. I have acne (and acne scars) and used to have very oily skin, but my skin became very very dry 2-3 months ago and started flaking and peeling (including my neck, which is terribly dry now). And my whole body became very itchy. I'm not sure if it's because of the acne products I was using or not, but I didn't use any of them on my body. And I had never had problem with acne products before.
Anyone help me please.

Hi there Smile

What products have you been using? Also, have you changed your washing powder, started on any supplements etc?

If it's all over, it sounds like it could be an allergy to something.

It sounds like an allegery to me too.

Did you change laudry detergent, fabric softner, etc. It could also be a food allergy. My mother became allergic to peanuts only a few years ago. Are you using a self tanner?

Some supplements and herbal remedies are bad for this too. Guapaboy was taking st John's Wort a few years ago and came up in the most horrendous rash. What they never tell you is the stuff can cause severe photoreactions Mad

sounds like an allergy to me too. try to stay away from any product that has too much chemical. for your body, try Aveeno Bath and Shower Oil, and Cetaphil for your face. let your skin calm down first before you try anothing else. good luck.

I have a similar problem on my forehead and nose. I constantly have flaky skin there. Could it be from the self-tanner???

Hi ahau!

I am not sure what it is, but it could be from an allergy, like others have suggested.

It may be time to make an appointment for a dermatologist.

I had dry flakey skin and it cleared up by using Ice Elements products witch are gentle and aloe based. These products would help to calm and balance your skin, as long as any allergen that is bothering you is removed. They have a body lotion too.

Ice Elements use a double pattented pharmacuetical grade aloe vera that is used in hospitals for healing. This product line or something similar should give you relief while recovering from this problem.

I have also heard of people washing their face and body with Cetaphil, as glee suggested.

Take care.
Bosoxy.

This might be far off, but you might want to go to the derm and get checked for moles.
My Mother had a similar reaction a year ago and found a tiny mole that was cancerous. Once she had it removed all reactions stopped.
Dont mean to scare you! Shock
I also agree with stop using all products, let your skin rest. Then after it calms down, reintroduce products one by one a week apart. This might help narrow down the culprit.
For instant releif, try soaking in a warm oatmeal bath from Aveeno.
You might want to see a Doc if it doesnt clear up. Hope you feel better! Very Happy

I'd definitely recommend seeing your dermatologist or even your regular doctor if you've been exeriencing itchiness all over for several months. Generalized itching can be a symptom of a whole range of medical conditions--everything from allergies to anemia. It would be a shame to suffer discomfort for something a doctor could treat pretty easily.

ahau--you might want to try toning with apple cider vinegar diluted in water. just dip a cotton ball in and over the areas that are peeling. and you should perhaps switch products you're using.

I would highly recommend that you go see a dermatologist, or at least your regular doctor. Before you go, I would recommend writing down anything that you put on your skin, including all cosmetics, and also include what detergents and/or fabric softeners you use for wash your clothes.

You may also wish to think about what may have changed 2 to 3 months ago that might be a factor. Have you changed fabric softener? Did you move into a new house or apartment? You may be having a reaction to a different mineral content in the water. Any number of things could trigger it, including stress.
