What is your vision of YOUR perfect/better life? How are you going to achieve it?
Mine is to own a small house in St. Barth (not even kidding) and have a really sweet boyfriend who resembles Jesse McCartney ! I also want to be financially free and beautiful.
I have been saving for two years now and have $20 grand in the bank but that still is not enough to buy land so I still have to figure out what I'm going to-do in that area. In terms of my second goal I'm thinking I will get some very good pictures on my online dating profile, romance some poor dude and that will be taken care of ha-ha! As for being financially free, that is not a problem (I'm very cheap), beautiful (my skin is pretty good, I just need a couple sessions of IPL to finish things off, everything else is prevention). |

Blimey, you'll be a millionaire by the time you're 30 at this rate, Daniel!
Personally, I would love to either move back to the city where I used to live in France, or to Québec or Newfoundland. I'd also like enough money to run an enormous cat rescue organisation - and be able to afford laser hair removal. (That'd be for me, not the cats, just in case you're wondering.)
Failing that, I'd dearly love to become the world's most renown chocolate expert and own the best and most delicious chocolaterie that has ever or will ever exist. |

Majorb, you and I seem to have similar dreams. I also would love to open a cattery and and take care of rescued cats. I also would love to live in France at some point. What city did you live in, in France? And as for chocolate, yum.... Did you see the movie, "Chocolat" by director Lasse Hallström? Not only was the chocolate to die for, so was Johnny Depp! |

Good luck with that one. I wanted to strangle hubby a few times while he was getting his Masters.
As I recall you & hubby have a fun loving supportive relationship, just keep your humor & you'll be fine. |

a cattery
I have little tears in my eyes now, and woke the baby up with my cackling. Seriously, a good cause though, I love cats too.
My dream: Have healthy children who grow to be good people, a solid, happy marriage, be inspired daily, own my own luxury hair salon, afford to go to school for the rest of my life(what can I say I love to learn), I would really like to help orphans and make changes in the public school system, and move somewhere beautiful when Im old. |

My dream...to learn to be content with what I have. Maybe that's the secret to happiness? |

I so agree with you. It's hard to do though in the culture we live in (in America anyway). I'm a stay-at-home mom now so we have to budget verrrry carefully. My husband does great but I'm always blowing my budget.
This was a great question, Daniel. I've really been asking myself this lately because I'm finding I'm just taking care of toddler needs and not working on my personal goals (keeping up with the laundry is not necessarily a personal goal!). So here goes my answer even if I haven't totally thought it out yet.
First, more immediate goal: get caught up on archiving our family photos. I have several scrapbooks I would like to complete and I would also like to completely get caught up with organizing our family pictures in regular albums. I would also love to get a little scanner and scan in the 1000s (!!!! ) of slides that my grandpa (who is 85) and my father-in-law have. I am almost finished transfering my grandpa's 8mm movies onto DVD. It's costing the family close to $1000 to do it but it is sooo worth it. That, at least, is something that I did for them (nobody else was doing it) and I feel good about it.
Second, I would like to get healthy. Working on that now. Wish I loved to exercise but, by golly, I will learn to somehow! It is a dream of my to feel good and strong.
Third, I dream of opening a coffee bar someday. Don't know if I will do it because I don't like to stay in one place very long (and if you own your own business, you need to live there to make it work!). I love to fantasize about it though!
Thanks for the question. It's great to think about! |

Laughing now. I don't dream I do. I think I have everything I need which are good friends and a loving husband who has accepted the fact he is now a cat lover, and chocolate is currency in my realm. |

Great thread! My dream would be to become independently wealthy so that I didn't HAVE to work and then I could devote time to travel, taking courses, maybe start my own business, write ... oh that would be great! And I'd want to have a nice home somewhere just outside of the city on a few acres with lots of trees and another vacation home somewhere nice and warm. |

I lived in Orléans, Anna. It's a really beautiful place - not too big, but packed full of history. It just had a really good feel to it. One day, I'd love to return to visit, but I'm too scared to do it as I don't think I could bear to leave again. If you ever do get the chance to live in France, I'd highly recommend it. Right in the centre of the country, so ideal for travelling to the rest of France - and Paris is only about an hour's journey north by train.
When I open the Orléans branch of my enormous cat rescue organisation I'll let you know so you can come over and help!
As for the film "Chocolat", I haven't seen it yet, unfortunately. But I do hope to.
France, Chocolate, cats and Johnny Depp, eh? I'm pleased to see that someone else has such wonderfully good taste. |
