Hey,
Three weeks ago, I purchased from Dermalogica Ultra-Calming and Skin Smoothing Cream from Dermalogica Centre in my hometown, after being recommended from them. Also, a big improvement over my dry-cheek (got peel-off) from their samples. During the usage, I got experience some itchiness. Sometimes, it is really itchy but sometimes there is none. Weird, huh. Care to explain?
Well, the lady at the Centre asked me to stop using the toner, Skin Soothing. I followed their words and there isn't any itchiness for a few days. But it comes back. These few days, I got 2 dry and reddish patches at the each end of my mouth. Then i tried to use the Skin Soothing Booster over the reddish area and so far, I havn experience any itchiness and less reddisness. But there is reddish and dry patches. In addition, I got more dry patches between below my mouth and chin area. And a small part of left cheek.
So here, I gonna start my question. Is it my cleanser that affects the dry patches? And for you guys, will your face feel tight and dry when u wash our your moisturizer? (Bcoz I will and dry patches is visible). And what the other product recommend?
THanks in advance... |

If you have dry skin in general then I would recommend that you go with a cream cleanser that does not leave your skin stripped of moisture. To answer your question, I don't feel like my face is tight and dry after I use cleanser unless I am using the wrong cleanser.
If the itchy feeling and the dry patches started shortly after starting Dermalogica products then I'd say that there is a very good chance that your skin is not liking those products. It could also be possible that you might be coming down with something (virus of some sort for example) that also has those symptoms. I would suggest that you stop using Dermalogica and go back to what you were using before for a week or so and see if those problems still persist. If they don't then you know it's most likely the new products. HTH |

When I get those symptoms after trying something new, I know that it is a reaction and I have to go back to cetaphil and jojoba or kinerase for a few days until my skin calms down, then I try it again. But if it still persists, then it is the product and it does not agree with my sensitive skin. And I go thru a lot of brands! |

Burt's Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser is a wonderful cream cleanser for dry and sensitive skin. I have dry skin, and this is one that I use often, for it's moisturizing ingredients:
Ingredients: Vegetable glycerin, sunflower seed oil, orange oil, oat kernel protein, lanolin, vegetable oil & beta carotene, aloe barbadenis leaf juice, tocopherol (vitamin E), rosemary leaf oil, filtered water.
I also like using my homemade OCM (Oil Cleansing Method)....there are many excellent threads/posts on OCM here on the EDS forum. You might want to do a search to learn more. For my dry skin, I use a mixture of the following:
25% Castor Oil
25% Grapeseed Oil
25% Extra Virgin Olive Oil
25% Sweet Almond Oil
Both of these cleansers are effective for dry skin, and the OCM will help soothe dry patches. |
