Help! I just had a kitty incident. I tried separating two fighting cats and received a deep scratch all along my arm. I scar badly (dark skin). I put some neosporin (antibacterial), cortisone to reduce inflammation and mederma for scarring. Mederma doesn't usually do much for me. Any suggestions?

Hi Agent 00-Cat!

I, too, have used Mederma and it's okay...but it took awhile to work and didn't completely fade things as much as I wanted. So, in light of some recent new scars of my own (surgical), I've been looking around for something new to try. Our Candy here on EDS has something that I just ordered and am excited to try: "What Scar?" oinment...it's on her website (scroll down to bottom of page): http://www.candessence.com/Body.html

I've used a lot of her other products, and have always been more than thrilled with their performance, so my gut feeling is that this ointment will be no different! I plan to post again after trying it for a few weeks, but just thought I'd bring it to your attention as an option in the meantime!

Ouch! That sounds painful. Try and keep the cut as clean as possible, and keep putting neosporin on it.
I had success with Scar-zone ointment when I fell and cracked my forehead open. The scar is barely noticable anymore, but it did take awhile to heal.

I had a mole removed in Sept 04 and have tried lots of different creams but with no success until lately someone told me about Dermatix and the improvement is great and I feel if I had discovered this ages ago it would have really faded it. I have been using this cream which is silicone based for 6 or 7 weeks and it has already faded it and flattened my scar greatly. I bought this cream from EDS and you only need a small amount and its invisible you should try it

Thank you for all your recommendations. I'm keeping the scratch covered in mederma right now and keeping away from the cats! Very Happy

Also you might want to watch that and go to dr if the color changes, my mother-in-law had same thing happen and huge infection followed. Not meaning to scare but just watch it or maybe have it looked at anyway.

My mother use to say one should avoid dark colored foods if you have a fresh scar. Try to avoid food that has food coloring and or soy sauce; and eggs too, for some reason.
