wave I am currently in need of a good sunscreen for my body. I'm using Clarins UVPlus SPF 40 on my face and it's a bit pricy to use on my arms/back, not to mention it only comes in a 30mL bottle. I never used to wear sunscreen on my body because I don't burn/tan easy even though I'm pretty fair-skinned. I remember when I was a kid I could do without sunscreen even at the pool. But I have recently gotten slightly burnt on my shoulders (I missed a spot with my UVPlus), nothing severe, it's just red there now, but I figured it's time to get a good sunscreen I can slather all over without worrying about the price and quality.

Criteria:

1. Non-oily/Non-greasy. As mentioned above I don't like to wear sunscreen on my body and never used to. This is because everytime I put sunscreen on I feel like a mask as enveloped my skin so I need something super light.

2. Inexpensive and easily accessible. Something I can get at the local drugstore/dept store or even EDS is fine. Inexpensive means it should come in AT LEAST a 2oz tube/bottle. I don't need a LOT because usually the only exposed parts of my body are my arms/neck/back/chest. But I need enough that I don't feel like I need to buy a new one every month.

3. NO CHEMICAL FILTERS! I would really prefer a physical sunscreen, it doesn't have to be "organic" but I feel physical sunscreens are healthier for my skin.

4. Minimum SPF 30 - preferably higher.

5. And of course it's an added bonus if it has aesthetically appealing packaging or a nice smell. But this is really not that important to me compared to the above 4.

There seems to be a lot of sunscreen experts here and hopefully you guys can help! Thanks!

Hi Sormuimui,

I just finished a frustrating search looking for a good body sunscreen with physical protection that wouldn't break the bank. There's nothing out in the drugstores really in the states, but after a lot of googling and things, i found the blue lizard brand and
just placed an order for blue lizard suncream in the baby and sensitive skin formulas last week. they were really cheap actually at drugstore.com and offer a physical protection of 10% zinc oxide and 5% titanium dioxide, and both give an spf of 30. the baby one costs less about $13 for 9 ounces and the sensitive was $10 for 5 ounces. i just ordered both not noticing the size difference until later, but the ingredients list were identical it seemed. shipping on the site is free if you spend $25, so i just added a lip balm to my order for $3.

i can't vouch for the greasiness yet, as i haven't tried them, but the reviews for the baby ones didn't mention grease or anything, so hopefully i'll like both of them.

they will be coming soon, so i'll write a review if you're willing to wait.

they are here if you're interested:

i was also considering the badger balm sunscreen spf 30, which was about $14 for a 2.9 ounce tube and has a 20.5% zinc oxide protection. i also couldn't find any reviews on this product. i ended up purchasing their spf 15 lip balm which MUA seem to love and am still waiting for that to arrive. i got free shipping also, with minimum amount at the badgersden.com

HTH!
