I have really enjoyed reading the past threads on sunscreens.
I am also quite confused and have information overload - I am hoping someone can give me a quick reply please.
I have quite dry skin.
I want a sunscreen with a high PPD count (I'd never heard of that until a few days ago).
I was about to order the Vichy when I saw the unfavourable reviews on here - also, it is very expensive for such a small tube.
Which Avene ones do people use?
Any other ones great for dry skins please post here.

I use (as it says on the packs)
Eau Thermale Avene Lait, Very High Protection, Lotion 40SPF and
Eau Thermale Avene Spray Very High Protection, Sensitive Skin 40SPF

Hi Emma2006 - The Lait SPF50+ (100ml) is heaviest as I recall (have used several formulae). I posted something about it last year -- it was the first one I tried and I was lured because I figured something called Lait would be milky. It was quite thick and whitish. It's for face and body so it's a larger quantity for a better price. I haven't used it again for my face. I would if swimming or on the beach though.
The Creme SPF50+ (50ml) is the next step down in richness. I use SPF50+ in winter months when my skin is dryest. The tubes I had were slightly tinted, but not much and in a very neutral way. In fact, since I don't wear foundation, I liked how it kind of evened-out my skin tone.
The Spray SPF50+ is the lightest, milkiest formula I've tried. It's also for face and body and is , like the Lait, a good value because it too comes in a 100 ml size. It's very nice and has been my summer mainstay (but works for winter too) until I recently tried...
Emulsion SPF50+ (50 ml). It's less oily than the Spray (but still oily). My new choice for summer when it's most humid.
I've only tried the highest SPF formulae (in the orange containers) and haven't bothered trying any others. |
