Hi,

I just started using a new body lotion that is supposed to help with hyperpigmentation and it has LPF 30. Has anyone heard of LPF before? I did a bit of research online and LPF stands for light protection factor but I have yet to figure out if this is the same as solar protection factor. I guess I'm curious if I still need to add an SPF over it or if the LPF is enough? hmm

Sorry if this has been discussed already. I tried to do a search of forum topics and didn't see this discussed anywhere before.

Thanks.

Hi All,
I am new here but has been following the forum for sometime.
I look in the net and it seems LPF and SPF are the same. This is what I got from Ciba Specialty Chemical website.

Quote:
* The Protection value of sun creams is measure in SPF (sun protection factor) or
LPF (light protection factor. The protection value of clothing is measure in UPF
(ultraviolet protection factor)
* SPF’s and LPF’s are measured differently in USA and Europe. A USA sun cream
with an LPF of 40 is equivalent to a European LPF of 20

I remember reading about different SPF standards between European vs American (Australia) before but I can't recollect where did I read it. I tried to search the net to get more information but no result so far. Also, Authorities in US (& in Aus) will not allow manufacturers to claim more than SPF 30, instead SPF 30+ is used.

It's a product called Nature's White Beauty. Nature's is an Italian line that seems to be growing internationally, by the look of their website. Anyway, the site is in English and Italian and it's somewhat user friendly if you want to read more... http://www.natures.it/en/prd/white/white_05.html

Thanks Wlin for the information. It's strange that we don't see LPF more often if it's the same as SPF. I did notice that Titanium Dioxide is listed in the ingredients.
