I am new here. Wow! What a great site! I am a new "convert" to the Hauschka skin care line. I was a Paula's Choice/Neutrogena/Olay user. I have also tried tons of other skin care lines. My question has to do with sunscreen. I tried all the Dr. Hauschka sunscreens and found them too heavy for summer use (right now it is 107 in Texas)> I tried going without, but after a few days of mineral foundation only, I have the beginning of a large freckle in the middle of my forehead. Confused
What natural sunscreen is light enough for someone with oily/blackhead prone skin?

Thanks in advance,

LOL!! You must be in the DFW area! Just wait until tomorrow...it is supposed to be hotter! Embarassed

I have been using shisiedo sunscreens for the past few years, with great success. They stay on all day through the texas heat. My very fair face used to be freckly, but now I have almost no freckles. I used the spf 33 pa++ sunscreen for several years, but I have recently switched to their spf 55 pa+++. I have very oily skin and both of these sunscreens goes on very matte and helps keep my face that way throughout the day.

Liz (your fellow Texan)

Thank you Liz. Yes, I am in DFW, but I am a native Canadian so this heat is tough to live with even after 7 years in TX. I have often read very good reviews on Shiseido sunscreen. The main reason I feel so torn about this is that after using all organic, Earth-loving, holistic skin care (and spending mucho bucks) it feels almost blasphemous to use anything synthetic. The Skin Care gods will strike me I just know it ! Shock

I understand why you are so torn. For me, with the sun and heat being so brutal here, I feel that I have to use what works best for me. I also feel that damage from the chemical sunscreen is monumentally less than the damage caused by over exposure to the sun.

I have used Dr. H's sunscreen and found them too heavy for me. The best one, in my opinion, is their children's sunscreen. I used a sample one afternoon when we were sodding our yard. I didn't get sunburned, but my face was increadable oily by the end of the day. I definitely couldn't wear it under makeup.

liz

p.s. I am from S. Louisiana, so the heat doesn't bother me nearly as much as it must bother you.

Also, I forgot to mention. If you go to whole foods, you should be able to get some samples of Dr. H's sunscreen before you purchase the fullsized tube.

HTH,
Liz
