Without a doubt the best concealer I have ever used. I have oily skin and am prone to the odd breakout plus I have blemishes.
Studio Finnish provides excellent coverage for any blemishes or spots I need to tone down, even though the concealer looks heavy in the pot it has never broken me out or made my outbreaks worse, lasts all day, not at all oily and the pot lasts forever. I use a concealer brush to apply.
Will repurchase |

Hi Rosebud, I second that. I have tried a whole bunch of concealers (among the better ones - Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Make up for Ever and even the famous Amazing Concealer) and this is the one that works for me in terms of color. I'm still not sure about lasting power though as I need to reapply by midday. |

It's a good concealer but for a large area or when I need extreme coverage - this cakes after layering (not immediately) but throughly the day it wears off and if you reapply I find it will look cakey. It also melts off pretty easily so lasting power is only half a day if you're very oily. To me it seemed to make my outbreaks worse (my acne looks more prominent after taking off all my makeup) more so than any other makeup I have used (but it almost may be due to the fact I was using Studio Fix with it). I think overall this is my second choice from my current concealer - it's still the best I have used in terms of pot concealers anyways.
Oh and I find that it attract dust pretty easily even though I only use my 242 with it. The pot ends up looking pretty gross so not sure whether it would be a good host for bacteria. Sometimes I wipe off the top with a clean tissue or something but it still attracts a lotta gunk. But one pot will last you forever. |

Well, I'd used this for years (1992-on), before it was even dubbed as part of the Studio line, Lauder buy-out, etc.
I used to think that this was the best concealer, and used it regularly on clients when I free-lanced. (this, and Ben-Nye's "Mellow Yellow")
I now have a half-used pot of NW-20 Studio Concealer sitting in the large basket on my bathroom counter. I ought to bring it down to the pro. shop to recycle. I won't use it again.
I prefer Amazing Concealer and Jane Iredale Cover-Care Camoflage. |

So, I spoke to the MAC people this w/e and they suggested Mac Prep and Prime underneath the Studio Fix for lasting power and/or the fat pencil concealer instead as it's non greasy. I got a sample of the prep and prime and I'm impressed. |

Uh .. duuuuuuuuuh! Of-course they suggested another product to go beneath their concealer! This is the Estée Lauder-way, honey. "Items per transaction". The more that they can sell you, the better it looks for the sales person.
As I've blatantly said before, many times-over: M.A.C. is no-longer the company that it was, prior to nine years-ago. It's been revamped, and only the true, original M.A.C - users know the difference.
Lauder's investment into M.A.C caught Franks (Toskan & Angelo) at a very bad time. The merger was partial, to help M.A.C expand.
Frank Angelo died of a heart-attack while on a flight back to Toronto, sometime in 1997.
Ya think that Frank Toskan was seriously in the frame of mind to hand-over M.A.C entirely? I thinketh: not.
I miss M.A.C : what it was, it's quality, uncommercialism, principles, and roots.
As a former make-up artist & one-time M.A.C die-hard: I've set-foot into a M.A.C store/counter perimeter maybe ...... maybe ... twice within three years.
And I can guarantee you: it was only to recycle my old containers for their (changed) "Back to M.A.C " program. |

So, Caper's Mum tell us how you REALLY feel about EL buying MAC!!!! I have been using MAC for about 8-10 years. It's hard for me to find colors that match for foundation and concealers as I have dark skin. MAC has such a broad range that I've been lucky with them and Bobbi Brown (which I believe is also owned by E.L) So, I'm afraid I can't be toooo principled about the ethics! |

Hi,
If you're darker, you may want to look into mary kay. The colors have gotten much better and more natural. MK also has a good range of colors. I use the full coverage FOUNDATION as a concealer, and it's great.
The MAC concealers, while OK in color, don't work too well for my deep olive-golden skin. And they get cakey - I'm oily. |

It used to be my everyday concealer (and unfortunately I cannot live without concealer ) but I found something even better. I'm very fair and I use the NW-20 shade (which is always a touch too yellow for me). I now use Kevyn Aucoin's concealer and I LOVE it! It lasts well, he's got lots of colors to choose from (I found the most perfect for me that I have ever found in any concealer), it blends wonderfully and you get a ton. Down side: it costs $45 for a pot! I suspect I will have it for the next five years even though I use it a lot.
I also just discovered recently MMU. I've been using that now more and more as coverup. Must say, I like it so far. It seems to look even more natural.
Never thought to put primer under my studio fix concealer. I will try that next time to see if it lasts even longer. I do like this concealer for a purse emergency concealer. I always seem to go back to it... |

I think that putting the primer underneath helps. I've also used the smashbox primer but the prep and prime seems to work better for me. Unfortunately, Aucoin didn't have a shade to match me... I really admire his work and am so sad that he died. |

Mac concealer is good for me too. I used it under my eyes and on a few spots. |

Same here - I find this concealer great and have been using it for a while. It lasts for ages.
I have also been using their bronzing powders but I find they don't lats long so have recently purchased bronzy Babe - it is cheap but it seems to work well. Worth investing in a good brush though. |

I think the MAC studio concealer is excellent! I was devoted to it until I found the Amazing Cosmetics concealer...It wears just a bit better - without being drying at all. Just love it!

Hi SusieQ! I've had good results from Dermablend as well in terms of colour but I found it a bit dry..I use Fair(ultra light) in the Amazing Cosmetics concealer...I also have the Amazing Cosmetics mineral make-up in Ultra Light - which I really like as well...My MAC studio concealer shade is NW15 - and sometimes NW20 if my skin has a tad of colour (which is rarely)...BTW, I thought you ordered the EG caviar ampoules - post a review and let us know what you think!

Pudoddles! I wasn't aware that Amaz Conc has mineral makeup. I must go there! Thanks for the info on your MAC shade. I'll check it out next time I'm "in town".
Yeah well as for EG's caviar ampoules. I returned to tsc because I couldn't justify the cost for the product. The serum is a bit thicker than her normal serums AND NOT STICKY/TACKY. Actually it did bother me to return it because I did like them on my skin. I'm waiting to see if she'll bring the price down before purchasing again. |

I love the studio finish concealer! I have olive dark skin, and use shade NC 30, I have yet to find a concealer that matches my skin this well. I have tried the cover fx line as well and found that it is good for covering up really bad blemishes but is slightly more yellow. I recently bought the MAC prep and prime and love it. It is more light weight than clarins instant smooth and smash box primers.
I used the MAC select SPF foundation for years and recently tried their studio fix liquid foundation. It looks great, has great coverage, and it makes my face look flawless. But I have noticed that my skin is breaking out in small bumps. I think the foundation might be the culprit so I am going to lay off of it for a while.
Caspers Mom- I can't compare MAC to what it was 9 years ago since i only started using makeup then and the only MAC products I had back then was eyeshadow and powder, but I have heard from others that what u say is quite true, and i have definately seen a difference their quality of powders- I don't buy them anymore and prefer the Lancome ones instead.
But I still love the studio finish concealer! |
