I have had Jurlique's Silk dust in my basket for a few days now. Last night, I was looking at the ingrediants and realized that the main ingrediant was corn starch.

So this morning, I went to the kitchen and got out my cornstarch. I used a very light dusting of it. I have been amazed all day! I didn't even get a hint of shine until after lunch. I have extremely oily skin which is being made worse by our current 30+ days of over 100 degree temps.

I will keep using this for awhile to see if I keep getting these spectacular results and see if any problems arise.

Has anyone else tried this with similar results?

Well, in times of need I've been known to use cornstarch-based baby powder on my face, and I have to say it worked fairly well, LOL.

I have used just plain cornstarch after my sunscreen and before applying mineral makeup. It does work. I used just a tiny bit and used a flat top brush.

A lot of the finishing powders from mineral makeup companies use corn starch as a base. I have Everyday Mineral finishing powder. It is very finely milled and iron oxides (colour) added. It is about $12,00 a jar. You can order a sample kit and get it as a sample (with a blush and foundation samples you pay shipping).

Also B E Mineral Veil has a cornstarch base.

Of course you can take food grade cornstarch and mix it with your mineral makeup (or coloured foundation powder).

Well I think the diff is just that Jurlique has a lot more other ingredients that are good for your skin. Everyday Mineral's Finishing Powder is actually just tinted cornstarch so I think you can use cornstarch as either a primer OR a finisher.

I have no doubt that the jurlique has more 'good for your skin' ingrediants. My cornstarch experiment makes me want to try the jurlique even more!!

I've used cornstarch as powder before. It does work at keeping the oilys away, but I've noticed that the Everyday mineral finishing powder, which is just tinted cornstarch, makes my skin feel smoother, and look slightly better. I think it is because they finey mill it, and the particles are smaller.
