there was a thread a while back talking about soaps for excema- I cannot find the thread again so I hope those interested in finding the sort of soap we were discussing will happen on this new thread.

Anyways, I found some homemade almond honey soap of the sort we were discussing. I found it locally by googling "farmers market soap". As an excema sufferer who has only been able to tolerate cetaphil for so long, this stuff is great. It is not healing me, but i dare say my skin does look better. I am content just to able to use soap again! clean clean clean....and NO irritation.

I asked Karen if I could post a link to her site here and she was fine with it:)

I love all natural homemade soap...I've been on a soap kick lately after realizing my skin was getting so dried out from using soap and bodywashes containing SLS and other harsh ingredients. It seemed no matter what lotion or cream I used after washing, my skin would suck it in and still remain dry. I've been trying out alot of different natural soaps from etailers in the past few months and it has made such a difference in the condition of my skin...even on my feet. One etailer I ordered from even has naturally scented massage soy tarts that, once they are warmed up in a tart burner, you can use the melted tart to massage into your skin for deep moisturizing. They also smell wonderful, but are not as heavily scented as regular tarts. These will be great for the winter! Thanks for that link...I'll check it out Smile

I meant honey & OATMEAL !!!!!! not almond.

Hi Jala:) Try this stuff if you want something really mild. I started trying handmade soaps from the local markets when my skin started drying like yours, makes all the difference.

Speaking of more natural cleansers- just bought some "paves" shampoo and conditioning milk after reading reviews here for it- no sls or harsh ingredients in it, so far I really like it. Found it at the local drugstore which is nice too.

those tarts sound great:)

You might want to try a 100% castile soap too. (handcrafted) It is made with 100% olive oil, which is extremely gentle on your skin. It's so gentle, newborn babies can use it.
