I'm sure I've posted before but it's been a while. Need some skincare advice. I must have sat here reading every post about everyone's favorite products. Does anyone else here have a little problem with being obsessive about skincare? I seem to never be able to find anything I'm satisfied with. I'm 42, combination skin, broken capillaries on cheeks, no rosacea, occasionally break outs. I've love using something really gentle and nourishing, not outrageously expensive, but mid-range. I'm not crazy about exfoliating products. Worry that it might be too much. I'd love to find a product that made me say "WOW", just don't think it's ever happened.
Thanks,
Sandy |

Hi,
I think you have found your spiritual home!
Personally I think you need to go gently. Not up on comb skin (I'm dry to normal) but you may want to think about an emu oil or camelia oil. Really need to know more about your skin and products.

Well, my skin is really in pretty good shape, even though I tanned when I was younger, boy I wish I could go back, but I stopped cold turkey in my mid 20s and started wearing a sunscreen and have every day since. My pores are definitely larger than I'd like. After I read some posts here, I got some samples of Dr. Hauschka, and I did like them. I use Cetaphil for cleansing a lot and usually an alcohol free toner and I have went back and forth on moisturizers. I've never stuck with one line really. I have tons of moisturizers in my bathroom closet. Oh, and I do have some emu oil and some camellia oil. Imagine that. One of the few cleansers I've never had trouble with is Cetaphil, although I want to switch sometimes because of the SLS, but everything else I've tried dries me out. I have a few fine lines around the eyes. Nothing major, but would love to change the texture of my skin in general, especially around the eyes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have the Emu Gold from LB Processors. Isn't that the same thing as Dremu?? |

Sandy - have you been using a vitamin C serum? I apologise for sounding like a broken record, but I think it might be my goal in life to make sure that everyone starts to use a C serum You should see some good results in terms of a healthy glow to the skin, and it's beneficial overall in particular since you did tan a lot many years ago.
Also, I think the Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream would be a very good thing for you to try. Is that what you got a sample of? My skin glowed and all my pores were pretty much invisible after using this twice daily for ~2 weeks. It's gentle and will leave your skin feeling comfortable, yet will still gently exfoliate.
In terms of moisturisers, this is still, after all these years, an area in which I have not made much progress in terms of finding my HG. I hope you get some good suggestions from others though! |

I definitely agree with Mabsy on the vitamin C serum. I am trying to convince everyone i know to use it in conjunction with sunscreen to combat uv aging. |

I did get a sample of the Dr. H cleansing cream. I like it. I'm just not sure if I have the technique down quite right. I haven't tried a vitamin C serum, I'm still a little confused about which form of vitamin C is best and I know it has to be stable, so I'd love some advice about which vitamin C serum is good. You know I was kinda thinking (just thinking) about the Clarisonic. I haven't heard a lot about it, but I went to their site last night and it looks interesting. I know that kinda goes against my "mid-range spending" but since it's a tool that will last, I might be able to justify it. I'm going to check into some of the C serums. Thanks bunches, guys!

Hi Sandy
Here's another vote for a good Vitamin C serum!
Also, if you have broken capillaries, you might want to refrain from using the Clarisonic brush. I'm not 100% certain, but somewhere in the recesses of my prematurely senile brain, I remember asking my derm about it. I have some broken caps around my nostrils (probably due to really bad seasonal allergies) and she thought it was better to stay away from it. Probably easy enough for you to double check on that before laying out the bucks.
But, definitely, go for the Vit C |

The ingredients that have made the most difference to my skin is retinol and epidermal growth factors. I also think vitamin c and sunscreen are important. |
