Hello everyone.

I've used Totally Juicy Grapefruit Peel-Off Masque before, since I got it as a part of a gift a little while back. I don't use it every week but when I'm in the bath and realize I could have this on my face, I figure why not. Well, this last time (which was about a week ago) was one of those times I figured, 'hey, why not.' So I proceeded with the steps and everything went on as usual. Then, I started noticing bumps on my chin area like white heads as well as some inflamed red 'bumps' that haven't yet come out to become pimples and ones that seemed to be a combination of both. I haven't really experienced this type of reaction before from this product (and I'm more than halfway done with the tube).

So now I'm wondering, the packaging states that it Purges Pores and Purifies from the grapefruit enzymes. And so now I'm thinking that it made my skin purge all of the bad and nasty stuff out of it, causing such a sudden impact on my face (mind you its all around the jaw area, while I applied the masque to the entire face). So can this really be it? And if so, then was my skin so much cleaner the other times I've used it? Or am I just completely stressed out (which I am a bit with school) and this is the cause of the madness. Also, can someone enlighten me on the exact meaning of what it means to have your skin 'purge'. I'm not too sure if I'm getting the definition right Embarassed .

Oh, and here is a link to the product itself, if you need any other info about it:

Thanks!

I don't know much about purging, sorry.

But I'm wondering if you were in the bath maybe your face was hot and the pores were more open from the steam and then the acid might irritate your skin.

I don't think I'd do a peel like that.

I think Molly may be right. If your pores were open, it makes sense that the product may penetrate deeper into them. I don't know much about purging either, but I think it's a possibility.

I definetly agree that it's a possibility, but then again, I've done it before under the same circumstances and nothing. The peel is actually pretty gentle (unlike some of what the reviews say), but I really think that it does absolutly nothing. The acidity from the grapefruit does seem like it would be a cause of atleast something, though.

Either way, thanks for replying, I was beginning to think that I've done something wrong, and that's why no one is responding Embarassed. A bit paranoid, I think Rolling Eyes

Of course it's not you! I think that a lot of times people just don't respond because they haven't used the product and don't know.
