I am sort of in a similar position to Crystalline Green and have hyperpigmentation marks on my face from past acne. however, I also want to lighten my skin overall as it seems to have gotten darker and more dull looking. Is there a procedure or natural product that anyone knows about that is not too invasive and can help with this? Does vitamin C help? What about that skinceuticals phyto+?
Thank you - everyone here is such a good support system! |

Hi Sweetp
Vit C does lighten the skin, immediately and in the long-term for me. I've also found Lactic acid at 10% (I used the dianayvonne one) made me horribly white in the winter using twice a week. I don't actually like looking quite so white. Lactic is recommended for pigmentation problems over glycolic. Even Exfol (salicylic acid at 2%) makes me a bit paler in the morning . SuperCPs have made the parts where I was spot treating paler in the long term than other parts of my face, but you couldn't use them immediately you'd have to work up for a few months using the gentler CPs first.
So lots of things will make your skin lighter.

thank you so much Molly! I was wondering how to use the lactic acid? should I use it as a mask or try to find a lotion that is compatible with my skin. Do you think that 10% would be too much to use everyday? |

That really depends on you Sweetp. How old you are and what acids you've used before would help you decide.
Some people use it every day, but they're mostly quite mature. I found twice a week quite enough myself.
Some people like leave on acids others like peels. For me, I hadn't used a peel before this and I was impressed with the results and after you can use nice healing things that night like emu or ALA so I quite like to do it that way.
It's up to you.
