holy crap, batman! this stuff is goooooooooooooood!!! okay, i have never ever ever had a face cream EVER that just so immediately transformed my face. it was like a magic spell was cast. i am amazed!
i put on my Pro-Heal and Hydra-Cool as usual, then decided i needed an extra lift as i'm having a photo taken for my gym card ( vanity) so i pulled out the Elixir sample i'd gotten with my most recent EDS order. my skin just drunk it in like it had been waiting for it its entire life. i put on my Cle de Peau primer (which is gorgeous but may break me out), let it sink in, then went to put on my foundation. i looked at my face as i was about to apply and -- oh my god -- i didn't need any!!! keep in mind, while i don't use heavy foundation, i do need to use some to even out tone, soften scars, pores, etc., but i didn't need it. the first time in my adult life.... i am so dumbstruck! the only difference was the Valmont.
help! please! tell me this $$$ cream is not as miraculous as i think! tell me one of their cheaper creams is just as good. tell me horror stories or how it doesn't last.... please, please, please!!! oh my god, i've so fallen in love and so cannot afford it |

I'm afraid to say that if you're like me - it'll be the expensive one that your skin likes.

It's dreadful, horrible stuff. Don't buy it. It turns your skin green, gives you enormous spots all over, makes all your hair fall out and grows you 2 extra mutant heads. Their cheaper creams are just as good
There. Does my lying make you feel any better?
Actually, I'm cursing you and bushy. You've both made me desperate to try this stuff for myself, and I can't afford it either!!!! |

Argh! I've just gone and had another look at it and was struck blind by the price!
I wish EDS would do a special technical trick to make it not appear on the site when I try to look for it. I'm drooling here at the very thought of it! |

just to make it worse, majorb.... before i put it on this morning i was cursing my current one-handedness and bitching about how awful and clogged my face was getting because of my neglect and the inability to squeeze some of the pores out.... ten minutes later and voila! it's magic, i tell you!
but the price. the price the price the price! how can i justify it? argh!!! may have to just slip into a swiss pharmacy and shoplift! pretty nifty trick, huh? one-armed bandit and all that? slip the cream in my sling???
(and thanks a lot, emma! our skins are so alike )
bushy, bushy, bushy! what have you done??? you've got me contemplating motorway robbery! |

I really want to try this stuff (well, this and a baby quasar...)- especially the eye cream after reading bushy's reviews! It is incredibly pricey though, it makes the Organic Pharmacy Rose cream I've been eyeing up but not purchasing because I'm too poor look positively cheap ! |

I am so glad that I didn't like this cream, it is just WAYYYYYYYYYYY to pricey for me!!
You guys don't mind the sparkly little things in it?? What's the benefit of them other than light reflecting?? |

I may just have been saved - I hate face creams with those little glittery bits in! Ah, but has anyone noticed whether the eye cream has them too? |

honestly? i didn't even know about them.... putting on skincare, makeup, is such an arduous task these days. if there's sparkle, i sure as hell didn't see it; just saw beautiful, glowy, healthy skin! and i am so hoping that this was just a fluke because i really can't afford it right now. |

Oh God, not again........ I was just getting over Bushy's review and had almost put it out of my mind! I love, love, love Valmont products, but the $$$$$! I have paid $$$$ for a few of their products, but cannot justify the expense for the Glaciers. I was going to ask for a sample of this, but very wisely (I think) decided against it! I pray they don't send me a sample in one of my orders!! |

Holy Moses...For the price of it you can buy:
a pair of Chanel Sunglasses
OR
A Louis Vuitton Pouchette Accessoires or Mini Sac
OR
Two silver tag bracelets from Tiffany's
and still some money leftover!!!!
This stuff is more expensive than La Mer, no? |

Well it's just the glitter part. I feel like I'm putting on something fake. Now I don't mind glitter in makeup but for skincare I just don't see the benefit. I want my skincare to nourish my skin, if you will. I think the glitter just gives an illusion to "glowing" skin. Call me anal if ya like. |

la vie en rose, I'll hold you responsible for any damage done to my credit card!!! Your post is so tempting and at the same time makes me !!!
I think this stuff is like the Radiance Cream from La Prairie which has diamond particles in it. Can anybody who has used both creams (must be some rich big spender ) compare and comment? TIA. |

on a perfectly sober note, this stuff was absolutely incredible on *my* skin. everyone is different and i sure as hell don't want people running out and spending their life savings on this cream after i only used it once! however, i do think it definitely warrants a closer look. it is the closest thing to a miracle cream that i've tried, and i've tried most of them -- La Mer, La Prairie, Sisileya, Cle de Peau, Kenzoki, Annick Goutal, Chanel, Clarins, etc. and so on. (some were too rich, broke me out, others did absolutely nothing. some were really nice but had no noticeable effect.) and it wasn't just the sparkle that gave the illusion of glowing. this cream transformed my skin!
whether it's more than a one time deal and if it's cumulative -- *that's* what i don't know and why i was asking people who have tried it for longer. and i was suggesting that those who've resisted to do everything they can to get a sample and see for themselves.... even i can't justify buying it right now as my skin is in a very weird place and i'm akin to a low-grade heroin addict on my pain pills. perhaps on my 'normal' skin it will do nothing; lord knows what the drugs are doing!
even if all this cream did was on a more cosmetic level, it is truly miraculuos. i did not go to sleep until the wee hours in the morning and my skin was still glowing like mad and looked porcelain perfect (which i assure you it isn't) and i hadn't touched up or anything. regular makeup has never had that longevity and i wasn't wearing anything more than the Elixir, primer, a thin sprinkling of translucent powder, and blush -- all applied more than 14 hours earlier.
all i'm saying is to give this cream a try if all else has failed! even if i do give in and get this, i don't even think i'll wear it at night -- that's for my actives. but, damn, i surely wouldn't mind looking like i did yesterday for a very long time.... |

You're really not helping my resolve, la vie en rose, you naughty person!
Do I remember correctly that this is the one that has a short Best Before Date? Otherwise, I'm thinking that it might be great to save up for and buy a pot for using on special occasions.
Argh! I'm seriously considering asking if I could possibly have a sample in my next EDS order. Unfortunately, if I really, really like it I'll probably end up trying to survive on the Fresh Air Diet for the rest of my days.
I hate, hate, hate sparkly stuff in creams, but I'm feeling about as tempted as it's possible to be about this L'Elixir. Any more temptation and I'll probably spontaneously combust or something.
Right. From now on I shall be sticking my fingers in my ears and going, "la la la la la" whenever any of you mention it. |

to clarify the sparkly things -- i swear to god i do not see them! maybe i'm blind, maybe the lights just too dim in my apartment (overcast day), but i really see no sparkly glitter or anything of that sort (which i *have* seen in other creams). the Elixir just seems to gleam a bit, a glow in the pot that just magically sinks into your skin -- and stays. there is absolutely nothing garrish about this stuff!
go ahead -- get a sample. if you love it, who knows, majorb. perhaps we can split a pot i do have to question question EDS pricing this, though, as it seems to be great for almost everything else. however, all other sites i've seen it, it's listed at $450 and sometimes sells for even less. with free shipping and all that i don't mind paying a bit extra, but we're talking about a hundred to two hundred bucks.... |

la vie en rose when I check the price on this it is listed as $390 USD. Just to make sure we are referring to the exact same product here is what I see listed at $390: Valmont L ELIXIR DES GLACIERS Size: 50 ml. That would be cheaper than what you have seen elsewhere! If I recall correctly I think that there was a similar debate about the EDS price for the L Elixir Eye Cream. What are others seeing for the price of this? |

I see 650CAD for the face cream. I also wanted to comment that and SA that specialises in Valmont told me that the L'Elixer Des Glaciers has gold in it so that's probably the sparkly things that Lifeplyr01 saw. It even has a nickname in Chinese that has the word "gold". I can find one thing bad about it - is that it might not be suitable for ultra sensitive skin. I bought the full size eye cream for my mom before because there was a 15mL bonus jar of the face cream as a GWP and my mom got red and itchy with BOTH products so we ended up returning it. |

Aw, drat, it is the one to be used within 2 to 3 months. Shame about that.
But yes, if you ever feel like splitting a pot of this scarily expensive little miracle, do let me know!
I really hope I can get a sample with my next order. |

If you use the currency converter that EDS has $390 USD is equivalent to about $430 CAD so I don't quite understand why EDS would sell this at $650 CAD. I wonder if there is a pricing error. It would be worth checking with EDS on this is you wanted to purchase the cream. Like la vie said EDS is usually very competitive price wise so it does see odd that they would not be competitive on the price of this. Although if I wanted to buy it I guess that $390 USD is a bargain compared to what it goes for elsewhere.
sormuimui,
You may be right about the product not being suitable for very sensitive skin. While I have not tried the L'Elixir face cream, I have tried the L'Elixir eye cream and I did find it somewhat irritating. |
