I'm very confused. This week i've been getting clogged pores to the extent that i could pull those darn white needles out of them. I'm trying to isolate what is causing them. I've started using Everyday Minerals and PSF Green Tea cleanser at the same time. I've pared down my routine to just PSF O2 serum after cleansing. I've read in another thread about someone saying the PSF cleanser leaves a residue. I think i rinse pretty good but you'll never know. Could it also be the bismuth-free EM? Technically, could a cleanser clog pores? It's hard to imagine since it stays on the skin for such a short time. I've heard about people getting clogged pores from OCM. I will keep on using EM as i love it so much and use another cleanser but i was just wondering if anyone else had a problem with the cleanser (or EM causing clogged pores).

I think that a cleanser could block pores if it wasn't washed away enough.
Maybe try using just one of the suspects at a time to find the clogging culprit.

Is your skin dry at all?

Maybe it needs some moisture or some exfoliation?

I felt that the green tea cleanser left a film no matter how I rinsed...and then I got some pimples after the second day...

So it could be the culprit.

Dollbird, do you currently use a toner? Like the others said, it could be the cleanser if there is residue getting left on the surface of your skin. A toner should take care of that. That being said...I am so wary of MMUs right now. I get the best results when I avoid them completely but I love the way they look! Anyway, having read about some people reacting to mica, I just ordered some MMU from Alima ($2.75 for sample foundation, $1.00 for blushes/bronzers). It does contain mica, but not until it's 3rd ingredient, so I'm guessing there is less probability for irritation. I'll let you know how it goes.

I've heard that it's important to use a regular cleanser after a milky cleanser in order to clear away the film that's left on the skin. I will break out too if I leave one of those oil or cream based cleansers on my skin (only rinsing with water, I mean).

I find PSF a little residuey and clogging on my nose and some other oilier parts (I'm mildly combo in the heat and humidity) so I either use a second cleanser on those parts or use a gentle scrub on my nose most mornings, which is most unusual for me as a normal to dry person. I think it's the weather more than the PSF though. It may do me fine in the winter.

I went to Jurlique's counter on Saturday and there seemed to be quite a few steps for cleansing.

Thanks ladies!!
I skipped my Green Tea cleanser today, and only went with EM. In the morning before I put my makeup on, i made sure i plucked/scratch out all those tiny needles protruding from my pores (sorry for the grossness), just so i was starting from a "clean" face. Wore EM all day, and touched up in the middle of the day. It wore great as usual, but just as I remove my makeup at night, lo and behold the blasted white needles again! They're few and far between, but i can't afford to get them everyday!! Sad I'm so dissapointed, coz like Olyn, I love the look of MMU, but don't seem to have much luck with them skinwise. Tomorrow I will skip the EM and go with the Green Tea cleanser, and will report if i see any changes. Olyn, do update on how you like Alima. I don't use a toner after cleansing (i figured i didn't need to because i use my Clarisonic).
I'm not about to give up on MMU yet, although i'm at the brink of it. I must say i never had this problem with Jane Iredale, Youngblood and BE, but i just don't like the sound of bismuth oxychloride either.

I would definitely recommend trying a toner. I have skin that is very susceptible to clogging, and I've noticed that if I skip my toner, no matter what cleanser I use, I'm more likely to get those darn clogged pores.

I find all milk and cream cleansers clog my pores. I only use gel cleansers now and have no problems at all! Very Happy

I'd give the skipping of one of the products more than 1 days rest. The breaking out could last a while after discontinuing the product that caused it.

I'm back to report my results after 1.5 weeks of not using my PSF green tea cleanser, and only EM. Still get clogged pores. Therefore, the culprit is EM.
