Are you sure ? The problem is that i'm a little bit scary with using C serum because i'm a men and after shaving my skin becomes sensitive for 2 days like irritation, redness and bumps on my neck (i shave only one time a week, my skin is too sensitive). Is there any mens on this forum that has such shave problems and use C serum ?

Hi, I started using Vit. C (Cellex-C) when I was 25yrs. old. I think it is a great idea, more of a preventative. Currently I use Skinceuticals, hths.

I think it depends on your skin type. If it's oily, C serums might clog your pores.

I've never seen an oil based C serum. Most are either PG based (which feels oily) or water/HA based.

My daughter has been using PG based C serums since 13 yo and it helps her acne rather than makes it worse. I have dry skin and find my skin is now less dry since using C erums for the past 4-5 years. I would start slowly though applying small amounts every other day to a damp or wettish face.

I personally love skinceuticals as it is water based and very stable, but it is so expensive I use either psf 20% (HA/ Glycerin base) or professional solutions PG based 12% serum. It has a 'slip' that many don't like but it is amazingly stable and I got a glow I loved from it once I got over the horrid texture (which only lasts about 3 mins anyway)

Silly question from me: how is C serum used? What's it for?

Has anybody tried the Obagi C serum? I'm currently using the Nu-Derm system (which works magic on me), would I need to use C serum too?

Someone was raving about the Decleor range for Men on this forum. You could read it and see if you like the sound of it?

Your post confort me, yes that sounds logic, how could a water based serum clogs pores, it's a bit non sense Confused I think i will sart using Cellex C serum next month because i think that Skinceuticals concentration too heavy for me, i haven't any signs of aging so it's more for a preventative use Wink

C serums have multiple effects like anti-oxydant protection, wrinkles and loss of firmness treatment, it halso have a unifying effect on your complexion. They are generally used one time a day before your moisturizer, then it depends brands.

I never heard about Obagi and Nu-derm Confused

Alright, no need to boast! Laughing

Like I said, if your skin feels a bit sensitive to start with, apply to slightly damp skin or on alternate days to start with to build up tolerance, or even apply over a HA serum to act as a buffer, though it should be the first thing on the skin after cleansing unless you use an acid wash.

Thanks Blutkindx!
I'm putting this down in my next shopping list! Smile

I'm using Obagi to treat my acne scars/uneven pigmentation. Its "magic ingredient" is Hydroquinone, which is supposed to be a 'skin lightener'. Smile

sweetreat if you are using Obagi I would recommend asking the physician that is supervising your treatment whether adding a C serum would be appropriate for you, especially if you are using RetinA as part of your Obagi system!

I've heard about hydroquinone that it works well but maybe it's dangerous to use with a C serum, you should ask to your dermatologist Wink And don't forget to use sun protection every day, that's very important if you are using skin lighteners and specially for acne prone skin too Idea

I'm in my twenties also and I've been looking for a new regimen that is both anti-acne and anti-aging. Shouldn't there be some kind of balance in the universe where you only have to deal with wrinkles OR acne, rather than both at the same time? Wink

Anyway, I've wanted to try hydroquinone to lighten some redness I have because of acne. After hearing about the FDA's move to take non-prescription hydroquinone off the market, I'm nixing that idea. I know that a lot of people think the FDA is over-reacting but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Are there any lines that don't have hydroquinone but do have a C-serum with lightening ingredients? I'd prefer more something with more natural ingredients.

I really like the Cellex-C Fresh Complexion Foaming Gel but their C serum aggravated my acne. Also, I agree with Blutkindx about the Skinceuticals being a bit too heavy.

Hydroquinine is dangerous full stop. Don't use it unless you really want to F*** your skin up!

I'm only 17 and I have been on C for a year now. I don't like serums, so I make my own with just L-Absorbic powder and distilled water.

I've been looking through some old posts and I read a lot of katee's posts. My sister uses IS Clinical and, after reading what katee has written on the line, I'm thinking about starting an IS Clinical regimen.

I'm also posting on acne.org. If I do start with IS Clinical, I'll be keeping a log on that site about my experiences using it. Now I just have to figure out how to buy it... Smile
