Deb63,
There are so many things to consider with melasma. I have dermal melasma which means it's internal (caused by birth control pills), so I take MSM supplements for it. I also have sensitive skin so I cannot use the stronger products. Personally I used Yonka 40 and 46 as well as an Artistry Illuminating Serum that I put on before using the Baby Quasar. My moisturizer is Juvedical and I used chemical free sunblock, spf 60. There's a great forum that's helped a lot:

If yours is epidermal, you need to make sure you don't do anything too aggressive because irritating the skin too much may cause it to become dermal which is very difficult to get rid of. |

Melasm is tough to treat. I have tried so many different things, but still have not found one that works well. |

I got a sample of Skinceuticals' Phyto+, it has AHA or something to that effect that is supposed to be good for lightening melasma... I used three quarters of the bottle and no change...
Anyone tried laser surgery?! |

I tried a few IPL's, but they did not work for me. I recently heard that Fraxel works, but am still researching and have not decided to get the treatment yet. |

The one and only regimen that worked for me was Cosmelan2. I never did the mask, just the maintenance cream - I would "sandwich" it between PSF's O2 rescue serum as it can be irritating - but it was the only product that produced results for me, and I've tried a TON of products, from RX's to homeopathic to many, many other brands out there.
I still have it, but barely noticable anymore. That coupled with mineral makeup makes it nearly invisible and me much less self conscious.
