Not sure why, all of a sudden get myself looking into this line. It is a line not mentioned much here but from the reviews I seeen so far, they are all very positive.
Other than the enzymo peel cream and some exfoliate cleanser, I noticed some interesting products, such as the 'propolis concentrate', which has the bee propolis; the cavier timeless repair line, which has the cavier(is it as good as the one in La Prairie?) Any one has any experience on these Prevonia products? Any recommendations? I have some clogged pores and dry skin.
Thanks! |

I bought the Soothing Propolis Concentrate because it is supposed to be good for both sensitive and acne prone skin. Well for me at least there is nothing soothing about this product!!! It really stung my face the few times I used it. I finally threw it out. If you look at the ingredients for this product it has lavender flower extract and it has vitiveria zizanoides oil. I have no idea why everyone insists on putting lavender in products for sensitive skin, it may be soothing for some but is a problem for many of us with sensitive skin. I actually had to look up the vitiveria zizanoides oil and found that it is vetiver-an oil often used in perfume. Why would that be in a product for sensitive skin? In all honesty this product has sort of put me off the entire Pevonia range. Now I know that a company cannot guarantee that their products will agree with everyone with sensitive skin but IMO I believe the stuff that they put in this product should not be in products for sensitive skin! Fortunatly, I have been using the Evolutive Eye Cream lately and that is a very nice product so perhaps Pevonia can get some things right.
If you have sensitive skin by all means sample this first. |

The only thing I have tried from pevonia is the enzyme peeling cream. I still have over half the jar left, because I am not faithful about using it twice a week (there too many others to use) but I like it. I usually apply it before I go somewhere because it does not make my skin red. It is very gentle and I like the white creamy texture and the smell, although it may be strong to some. As for the effects, I like. I like that is dosen't make my face red like other exfoliating products and it feels and looks so smooth. I don't know if its as strong as the psf pumpkin peel or not because that one does make me red. With the pevonia, if I am busy and can't get to the bathroom to take it off I'll leave it on for twenty minutes. It says it stops working after a few minutes anyway. |

Thanks TheresaL.
I know a lot of botanical ingredients will irritate skin so I guess it is hard to have one botanical product that fits every sensitive skin.
Here is what I found about vetiver oil:
Possible Uses: Acne, arthritis, cuts, depression, exhaustion, insomnia, muscular aches, oily skin, rheumatism, sores, stress. [Julia Lawless, The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Essential Oils (Rockport, MA: Element Books, 1995), 56-67.]
Constituents: Benzoic acid, vetiverol, furfurol, a-vetivone, B-vetivone, vetivene, vetivenyl vetivenate. [E. Guenther, The Essential Oils Vol. 4 (New York: Van Nostrand Company INC, 1990), 178-181, cited in Salvatore Battaglia, The Complete Guide to Aromatherapy (Australia: The Perfect Potion, 1997), 205.]
Safety Information: Essential Oil Safety by Robert Tisserand does not indicate any special precautions when using this oil. [Robert Tisserand, Essential Oil Safety (United Kingdom: Churchill Livingstone, 1995), 211.]
This is the forth time today I heard someone praise their evolution eye cream...So attampting... I wonder what result did you see? |

Tangerine this is from Paula Begoun's website.
vetiver oil or extract. Fragrant component in skin-care products that also has some antibacterial properties (Source: Applied Microbiology, June 1999, pages 985–990). It can also be a skin sensitizer
lavender extract and oil. Primarily a fragrance ingredient, though it may have antibacterial properties. There is no research showing it to have any benefit for skin (Sources: Phytotherapy Research, June 2002, pages 301–308; and Healthnotes Review of Complementary and Integrative Medicine,www.healthwell.com/healthnotes/Herb/). It can be a skin irritant (Source: Contact Dermatitis, August 1999, page 111). It can also be a photosensitizer (Source: Family Practice Notebook,www.fpnotebook.com/DER188.htm). Current research indicates that components of lavender, specifically linalool, can by cytotoxic, meaning topical application causes skin cell death (Source: Cell Proliferation, June 2004, pages 1365-2184
I admit Paula's website is the only place where I have heard that vitiver can be sensitizing however I really haven't looked elswhere. I have read in numerous places that lavender can be a problem for sensitive skin. But here is what annoys me, yes it is hard to find botanical ingredients that fits every sensitive skin but why use ones that are known to cause problems? Just my take on it.
On the Eye Cream. I had ordered this a while back and never really used it. From other posts you may know that I am trying to find a replacement for Cellcosmet Eye Cream and decided to give this a try. It has a nice texture, blends in easily and has been doing a good job of hydrating my eye area. My fine lines due to hydration which the Cellcosmet virtually eliminated have not returned since I switched to the Pevonia so I would say it seems to be doing a great job there. The thing that really impressed me about the Cellcosmet is that it was able to virtually eliminate my fine lines due to dehydration and do this in a very low humidity environment. Right now we are still in the rainy season where I live and the humidity is not low so I am waiting for the humidity to drop to see how the Pevonia really performs. I will keep you posted. |

razinkane, I think I will have to try the enzyme peeling cream after I finish my green apple peel.
TheresaL, I have a trial size of the cellcosmet eye cream but I didn't find it doing anything for me. I guess my fine lines are not due to dehydration, they are real!!! Thanks in advance for keep up updated with the eye cream. |
