I have been reading the threads on these different oils with great interest and they all sound benceficial. I noticed that some of you have tried a few and just wondered if you could recommend which would be best for a combination skin type? |

I have combination skin and used ultra emu and camellia oil. Both work for me, and I would say ultra emu is lighter than camellia oil. |

I have sensitive/combo skin, and the texture of my skin makes it difficult to absorb some types of oils.
I have used camellia oil (Epidermx brand) and my skin hated it, it was very light but did not absorb well and left my skin more greasy.
I am now using unrefined rosehip oil with about 10% vitamin e, it is very nice and I am surprised I have not suffered breakouts from it - because it is not recommended to be used neat for acne prone skin. Rosehip absorbs very quickly, but I don't use during the day as sunlight will degrade it very quickly. |

I use all three of these oils. None have caused me to break out. I use Tazorac for adult acne. |

I have all 3 oil. I have dry/sensitive skin. I use camellia oil as a cleanser with no problem. I have tried using it as a moisturizer and it seemed ok. It absorbed fairly quickly.
I tried emu oil and it felt a lot greasier than camellia. I tried mixing it with HA and it never seem to absorb. I am trying it again this week. I am using 2 drops of emu on damp face for the past few days. Now I have a bunch of small bumps on the side of my face
I also purchased primevera rosehip oil. I only used it for a week so I don't have any feedback. |

Mtview, what type of emu oil do you use?
Can you compare camellia oil to rose hip oil? Which one is thicker? |

hi jumpingball,
I was using ultra emu. I have tried skinbio's emu S and it was greasier than the ultra emu.
To me the rosehip oil feels thicker than the camellia oil.

I've only tried the Rosehip Oil but I'm really liking it. I'm sorry I can't compare it to the others. |

Thanks !!! Sounds like some people have had greasy experiences with camelia and emu and that with emu it is important to get good quality. And then, it sounds like rosehip works very well on combination skin... I think the rosehip might be a great choice for me and I even know where I can get the Trilogy brand which is popular with board members. |

I've used camellia and rosehip oil. I found camellia oil (Silkia is the brand) has a much nicer texture than rosehip oil. It is lighter than rosehip but feels more smooth and luxurious on the skin. I have used 3 different rosehip brands, two unrefined and certified organic and the other refined. I don't love their texture - each oil sinks in pretty fast but doesn't feel good on my skin. They just don't have that silky smooth feeling that I got from camellia and I don't enjoy using it everyday. I just use them when every once in a while when I feel my skin needs some extra moisture. |

My skin Bio Emu oil seems heavier than the Silkia camellia oil. I use them at night though so it looks more or less the same in
the morning both are moisturizing for me. I have combo oil. My rose hip oil is slightly lighter, yellowish in color and slightly aromatic. I sometimes combine it with the others but do not really know if it is doing something. It has vit A so it may be generally good (preventative)? |

How bizarre! It just goes to show you that skincare is truly YMMV. I used the camellia oil from rosayfruta.com |

I am totally confused... but I am now tempted by the camelia oil from Goldport beauty which features in a pack with Epidermix and the Derma Butter. I also like the idea of an oil I can use in my hair. |

Smoothskin: I'll have to say I am somewhat confused to. I alternate these oils and also use jojoba and avocado oils and castor oil(very tacky only use in mixes) for OCM. Iused to use emu oil under my eyes but now I use jojoba or camellia because someone here said emu caused skin darkening. I do not know if this is true. Emu from different sources seems different in color and texture. The one I have most recently is from Skin Bio. I never noticed anything special about the camellia oil but it does moisturize. So I just haphazardly use one or the other. |

If you order from EDS, you could ask for samples for decleor oils. They are very good and smell divine! |

I hadn't heard about the darkening I've used emu oil on my face for years and it's still white as ever. Lately I have occasionally put emu on my arms ... and I had noticed a couple of times that my arms seemed to have a dark grey kind of cast on the surface, almost as if they were dirty. This drove me nuts as I like my skin as porcelain pale as possible. I hadn't drawn a connection with the emu oil until now but I'm going to check this out and do some "one arm" tests.
Although how it's possible for emu oil to darken the skin on my arms but not my face I don't know? Possibly a reaction with the products I use on my arms? |
