I have been taking a break from using essential oils for a few months now since I was reading reports questioning if they could cause irritations and also reading that they should not be used in the sun. I decided to focus on more high tech ingredients like epidermal growth factors, beta hydroxy acid, retinol, peptides and vitamin c to name a few. I looked at my skin a couple of days ago and felt that it was quite dull looking, so I went into my box of skin care tricks to look for a magic potion. I decided against another enzyme peel or microdermabrasion, and I did not have any moisturizing masks (should get one really...) so I landed on my Liz Earle Superbalm Concentrate which is a little rollerball applicator of rosehip oil, argan oil, vitamin e, lavender, neroli and chamomile. I massaged it in generously and woke up the next day with beautiful smooth, healthy looking skin. I think I would like to have some essential oil products at hand to use once in a while as I find they do really make a difference to the skin, I think the best way to describe it is it looks energized. What are you all finding with essential oils - do you like the effect and do you have any favorite products to recommend?

Smoothskin, just curious, what skin type are you? Which EO's were you using and explain the benefits you felt you got from them. TIA

I've never had great luck in my own DIY recipes which involved using EOs, usually I go crazy and end up adding too much so that it actually irritates my skin.

But I really like using Decleors YY balm, with age old but trusty tea tree oil.

I find that my skin tolerates clary sage very well, I can use it neat to treat pimples.

I have ventured into getting some good quality and rare EOs like violet leaf, lotus, cypress, helichrysum... and I'm looking for the ever elusive Orchid..

I got decleor's Ylang Ylang oil sample from EDS earlier and I found it pretty amazing. After putting this oil on my face, my face won't get shiny for the est of the day. Instead, I get this subtle glow. Loves it~

I agree...I have been using "store bought" products and I've been on a "natural" kick lately. Nothing works better for my skin than my OCM and then I use a little as a moisturizer at bedtime. I've even been putting it on my eyes...love it! My skin just glows.

I love the smell of Ylang Ylang and have a shiny t zone, so this might be one for me to try.

If you have combination skin, decleor's ylang ylang or neroli would do you just fine. If you have samples, then, you could alternate. I like both of them.

I used all of the Darphin oils and this one actually left my skin a bit dry. I prefer their chamomile or rose. The jasmine gave me break outs and I just did not like the smell of the myrrhe.
