well i had a skin analysis done today and it turns out that i am extremely sensative skin type.. not normal/oily acne prone like the doctor and i always thought. so that is most likely the cause for my bad skin (bad reactions to pretty much 98% of the products i use) so i was wondering what brands or lines are best for super sensative skin or what are your favorites? |

I just saw a dermatologist a couple days ago for a head to toe mole check. Everything was ok, but he did note I had a flushed looking face. Not rosacea but a super sensitive skin. He gave me tons of literature and this is what he recommended for sensitive skin care. Gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil. Moisturizers for the face: Moisturel, Complex 15, Cetaphil lotions. Best moisturizer is Vaseline Petroleum Jelly & Eucerin. For hands, Neutrogena Norwegian formula hand cream, ROC Enhydrial , Previx or Kamille Herbacin hand cream. For bath, Aveeno Oatmeal products, Oilatum or salt may help your skin. Hope this helps.
As long as you use very gentle skin care products, you shouldn't have any problems. |

Just a word of advice...even when using a product labeled for sensitive skin, please do a patch test. I had irritation and hives with cetaphil cleanser, neutrogena hand cream also gave me hives.
You want to use products with a short ingredients list, fragrance-free, sulfate-free if possible.
Use one new product at a time and keep track what you use so you know which product/ingredient causes reaction. |

I would recommend using oils like jojoba, emu, rosehip, camillia for moisture, for cleansing, something simple like cetaphil's sensitive cleanser or Dr. H's cleansing milk. Stick with physical sunblocks, I don't think there is one brand in particular to stick with, but following these guidlines has helped me a bunch. HTH! |

thanks for the replies! unfortunatly everything that i try of neutrogena breaks me out.. and cetaphil cleanser breaks me out.. cetaphil moisturizer feels like it clogs my pores and i ultimatly break out, but not as quickly as when i use the cleanser. its pretty disappointing too cause i know they are suppost to be gentle and suitable for sensitive skin, my drs used to recommend them to me and i tried them. most drug store skin care makes me break out except spectro gel, i spectro gel. i tried jojoba oil over the summer and ultimatly again, it breaks me out.. i did the elimination of products thing and concluded that i cant use facial oils like jojoba or camilea.. i wanted to try rose hip and evening primrose so so bad but now i am afraid after the negative reactions to jojoba and camillia i also tried dr hauschka cleansing cream and quince day cream.. didnt have luck with them either so i concluded that brand is not for me. how fustrating to find the right products! |

Maybe you could try elimating any cleanser for washing your face. Just try gently cleansing it using water and a cloth. I changed my routine and eliminated facial cleansers years ago and it was the best thing I've ever done for my skin. Your skin might need a week or so to adjust but hopefully after that, it may start to clear up and look really healthy. I know mine did. You might also want to try Decleor Harmonie Gentle Soothing Cream. This also helped me with any redness. |

Hi
I have the same skin and I have had great luck with Bioelements sensitive skin cleanser!!
My cheeks are not so red and it cleans very well... I love the natural brands, but they seem to cause more reactions. Best of luck!! |

When my overly sensitive skin acts up, I find that using cetaphil cleanser or Obagi Gentle wash and Obagi Active for just a few days calms it back down. I've tried LaRoche Posay rosacea cream and it made my skin worse! |

Thankyou |

welcome to the sensitive skin club!(being a member really isn't all that fun, sorry )
My advice to you is to look for short ingredient lists, and don't be fooled by claims of calming, soothing, or for sensitive skin. Also, unfortunately, natural is NOT always better - just find what works for you. Lots of natural products have lists of ingredients a mile long, and this has the potential to be a bad thing.
If you can, find a cleanser and moisturizer that you know your skin can tolerate, even if it doesn't improve your skin texture, or clean quite the way you want, or leaves you a bit shiny. Just two basic products that you can return to when your skin is upset, or when you try too many new things and it gets finicky
For me, this includes purpose gentle cleansing wash, and purpose dual purpose moisturizer with SPF 15. They don't break me out, and I know that with a week of using them exclusively, I can settle my skin back down. The wash doesn't cleanse the way I would like, and the moisturizer makes me shiny and doesn't have a high enough SPF, but for what I use them for they are fantastic and indispensible.
They are readily available at a drugstore, and not expensive, so you might give them a try.

I have had a really hard time finding a cleanser for my sensitive skin.
My dermatologist recommended Bio2 Cosmeceuticals (Oxymist) and I use their gentle facial cleanser, which I find very soothing. I have been using it almost a month and am quite happy with it.
This line is designed for skin after laser surgery, etc., but, I am using it on a regular basis and it works well.
http://www.oxymist.com/Products/products.htm
Ingredients:
Deionized Water, TEA Lauryl Sulfate, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol,
Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, FDC Blue #1
The ingredients do not sound great ~ but, it really does work and is very comforting to my skin. |

Oh! It takes a long time to see results from Deramalogicas intensive treatments, but I'd have to sat their sensitive skin regimen is great! You can buy a sensitive skin care pack (small sizes...includes everything you'd need and lasts about a month) for about $45. I used it last summer because I had overloaded my skin with sooo many things and it needed to be detoxed. You might be able to get it for free if you call their customer service line and tell them your dilemma. Here is what their site says (www.dermalogica.com)
sensitized skin kit
Ultra Calming Cleanser for face and eyes is an extremely-gentle cleansing gel-cream that combats environmental assault with Dermalogica's exclusive Anti-Ozonate Complex. Follow with Soothing Protection Spray, an ultra-calming spray that shields skin from the environmental assaults of pollution, temperature extremes, irritating cosmetic products, stress, poor diet or hormonal factors. Then, Barrier Repair, a Silicone-based waterless moisturizer, soothes and repairs damage. Help firm and repair the delicate eye area with Total Eye Care SPF15. Contains no artificial fragrance or color. Professional recommendation advised.
how it works
UltraCalming Cleanser (1.7oz)
Soothing Protection Spray (1.7oz)
Barrier Repair (.30oz)
Total Eye Care (.14oz)
Daily Microfoliant (sample)
Their number in the states is:tel: (310) 900-4000
They gave me my kit for free, but I was at one of their seminars. Even if you don't get it for free, you're not out much money. Good luck! |

I do not have really sensitive skin but many products give me breakouts....I have had great results from Zenbiotics (so far)...it is clearing up my skin and not forming any new blemishes. I also liked La Roche Posay Toleriane and Weleda's Iris line. Glad to hear your skin is doing better. |
