Hi,
I need some help! hmm
I am getting married in feb 07 (summertime). And i have always been a casual/country girl but for my wedding i want to have traditional yet glamour style for the theme.
The wedding dress is sorted but i need help with the reception. Its going to bet held in a Ballroom of a hotel.
Any ideas how i should decorate the tables, flowers, walls etc???
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Marcia Smile

I wanted a really elegant reception but I didn't want to have a floral arrangement on every table, so I ended up sprinkling the tables with rose petals, then putting bowls of water and rose-shaped floating candles in the middle. Then I "filled" out the table with some peach and ivory votives in small cups. When everything was lit, it looked even more beautiful than I could have imagined!!^-^

Candlelight always seems to make everything more elegant. If you go that route, make sure the candles are unscented. A scented candle smells good, but 100 scented candles will overpower everything, and tere are people that are sensitive to smells.
Small mirrors under candles reflects the light nicely too.
If cost is an issue, a few long stem flowers in a elegant bud vase, looks more expensive and elegant than a big bouquet of cheaper flowers.

Lighting is very important. You may not have a lot of options if you're using a hotel ballroom, but maybe you can get a free consultation from a lighting designer, listen carefully to what s/he suggests, then do it yourself?

With good lighting everything will look better, including you! I'm sure you want to be well-lit for all those wedding photos Very Happy
I've had photos taken in overhead fluorescent lighting and it was not pretty!

Roses and candles are elegant aren't they! Also thanks for unscented advice for candles (it makes sense).

I bet the wedding co-ordinator at the ballroom could give you some great suggestions.

My wedding plan is simple, each table gets it's own small cake covered in fresh flowers and some tealights around it.

For my best friend I did votive candles on mirrors sprinkled with those silk rose petals that you can get at michaels. It worked really well, and if you get the votives and votive holders at ikea it's pretty cheap. her hall provided the mirrors though...I imagine they could cost a bit of money.
